BILLEL "BABY FACE" DIB RETURNS THIS SATURDAY

Credit: Dragon Fire Boxing
Press Release: August 7, 2018 (Originally released August 6, 2018) by Dragon Fire Boxing – Billel Baby Face” Dib (21-3) returns this Saturday in the Main Event of the Boxing Mania 3 Event at the famed Seagulls Club in NSW.

This is the rematch of the hotly disputed March 24th WBA Oceania Super Featherweight Title contest.

Champion Bruno “The Beast” Vifuaviwilli has vowed to return home to Tanzania with his WBA Oceania Super Featherweight title.

Dib has moved camps since his disputed loss and is now under the tutelage of Angelo Hyder, current trainer of IBF World Bantamweight Title Challenger Jason “The Smooth One” Moloney & Twin Brother IBF #3, WBC #4, WBA #6 WBO #9 Andrew “The Monster” Moloney.

“I haven’t had such a good training camp like this camp in a while. Camp was perfect, we had a perfect structure and program and I feel great. Angelo is an experienced coach and knows exactly what he’s doing; it’s been a pleasure working with him.

I’ve done a lot of rounds with the Maloney twins for this prep, world class sparring which is great. What do you know about your opponent? I know that he’s not on my level, not even close. This time I will completely dominate God willing.

He’s tough and that’s about it. The first fight If it was ever competitive, it was because of my My laziness and some bad habits I picked up. This camp we worked on getting rid of those bad habits and going back to the old Billel.

It’s an honour and a blessing to fight for WBA Oceania Championship. The WBA is a very respected organisation so I’m proud to be fighting for a WBA title.

I’m coming! I actually want to get this next fight done and then I want to come for Tevin Farmer, Gervonta Davis! I know I’m too much for them all. – states Dib

It’s Been a great training Camp from start to the near finish now! Really been focusing on my Strength & Conditioning, also a lot of skill work this camp so looking forward to putting it all together on Boxing Mania 3 !
This Camp I’ve aimed to spar taller & rangier guys as my opponent is about the same height & build as me.  I’ve done a heap of rounds with my stable mate 91kg Cruiserweight - David Hadfield. Also a lot of rounds with Benji “Koski” Dimitrioski & Josh “Hanibal” Frederiksen.

Farmer Decisions Dib For IBF Jr. Lightweight World Championship, Dib Retires

In a battle for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Jr. Lightweight world championship, top Jr. Lightweight contender Tevin Farmer successfully made the transition from contender to world champion by scoring a twelve round unanimous decision over former two-time Jr. Lightweight world champion Billy Dib on Friday night at Technology Park in New South Wales, Australia.

A tactical Boxing match, the silk southpaw Farmer used consistent lateral movement to offset the pressure of Dib. The fight at times was not necessarily the easiest to watch due to grappling between the fighters on the inside. In microcosm, this was a bout where there were two different versions for a significant portion of the fight. When Farmer was able to evade Dib’s pressure and get his punches off first, the tempo of the fight was in his favor. When the two fighters would engage on the inside however, Dib was able to have his moments. This resulted in several rounds in the first half of the fight appearing to be “Swing Rounds” where opinion as to who got the upper hand can very.

As the fight progressed, Farmer began to distance himself from Dib landing combinations and out working Dib. Farmer scored a knockdown of Dib late in the ninth round with a flush left hook to the head that sent Dib down hard. Despite appearing to be hurt, Dib was able to make it out of the round and appeared to get the better of the action in round ten. The former world champion however, could not find a way to turn the momentum in his favor and Tevin Farmer would go on to earn the unanimous decision victory.

Official scores were: 118-109, 119-108, and 120-107 all for Farmer. Tevin Farmer advances to 26-4-1, with 5 Knockouts. Billy Dib falls to 43-5, with 24 Knockouts. Unofficially, I scored this bout nine rounds to three or 117-110 in points for Tevin Farmer.

In other bouts:

Rising Jr. Middleweight prospect Tim Tszyu successfully defended his WBC Asian Continental Jr. Middleweight championship with a first round knockout of Steve Ferdinandus. Official time of the stoppage was: 1:14 of round one. Tim Tszyu advances to 10-0, with 8 Knockouts. Steve Ferdinandus falls to 27-16-1, with 14 Knockouts.

Jr. Welterweight Ben Campbell scored a four round unanimous decision over Jed Arians. Official scores were: 39-37 and 40-36 (On two scorecards) in favor of Campbell. Ben Campbell advances to 3-0, with 1 Knockout. Jed Arians falls to 0-1-1, 0 Knockouts.

Jr. Middleweight Danilo Creati successfully made his professional debut by scoring a six round unanimous decision over the also debuting Salih Ozdemir. Official scores were: 59-54 (On all three scorecards) for Creati. Danilo Creati advances to 1-0, with 0 Knockouts. Salih Ozdemir falls to 0-1, with 0 Knockouts.

Undefeated Bantamweight Brock Jarvis continued his winning ways with a first round knockout over Yotchanchai Yakaeo. Official time of the stoppage was: 1:37 of round one. Brock Jarvis advances to 14-0, with 13 Knockouts. Yotchanchai Yakaeo falls to 26-12, with 21 Knockouts.

Undefeated Super-Middleweight Mateo Tapia scored a third round knockout over previously undefeated Isaac Buckley. Official time of the stoppage was: 2:13 of round three. Mateo Tapia advances to 8-0, with 5 Knockouts. Isaac Buckley falls to 5-1-1, with 1 Knockouts.

In an emotional interview at the conclusion of the main event former two-time Jr. Lightweight world champion Billy Dib announced his retirement from the sport after a fourteen-year professional career and forty-eight professional fights. The thirty-two year old native of Sydney, Australia has experienced the highs and lows that normally come with a great career in the sport. While it is also not uncommon to see fighters who retire particularly after a loss to make a return after a period of time, if this is the end for Billy Dib, he should hold his head high. Dib has always been a class act, a credit to the sport, and this observer feels that he could remain in the sport in other capacities if he wishes to.
