Action Jackson England Reacts To WBC Asia Title Victory

Press Release: March 31, 2020 By Dragon Fire Boxing - All action Australian Jackson England is still buzzing in the wake of picking up his first WBC strap which came in the form of their Asia Boxing Council super featherweight title.

England produced arguably a career best performance on the Dragon Fire Boxing Thunderdome event in Metro City, Perth where he stopped Jason Tinampay in two rounds to claim the green belt in front of his hometown crowd in just his thirteenth contest as a professional. 

England opened up about his first WBC title victory, “I am absolutely over the moon to become a champion with the WBC and I’d like to thank the WBC for giving me the opportunity to fight for the title and I really feel that I put on a performance that is worthy of contesting a WBC title. 

“I was very happy with my performance and I believe it was one of the best of my career. I want to thank everybody at the Onyx fight team for getting me ready for all of my fights. I think I’m improving all the time and the my results would suggest that, so I am really grateful to the team for what they’ve done in the gym with me.  

“I also have to say a massive thank you to my manager The Big Boss Man, Tony Tolj and Dragon Fire Boxing who continue to deliver me top class opportunities which is unprecedented for a fighter of my age and experience as a professional.” 

England now adds the WBC Asia title to his Australian featherweight title and the 22-year-old discussed his plans now moving forward in the professional ranks. 

England said, “I have got the taste for titles now so hopefully next time out I can fight for another title or defend my WBC title. Either way I’d like to remain at title level and continue to work my way up the world rankings as my goal is to go all the way in the boxing game. 

“My first focus is making sure my family and loved ones remain healthy during the COVID-19 outbreak, but after this situation clears up I want to be straight back into title action and I believe I have the right team to get me ready for whatever is next and I know Tony Tolj will continue to get me great opportunities and I'm ready for anyone, anywhere, anytime.”

Updated Coronavirus Boxing-Related Cancellations/Postponements 3/27/2020

In addition to the announcement earlier this week by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that the scheduled 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan has been postponed until 2021 due to the ongoing Coronavirus epidemic, the sport of Boxing has continued to see postponements and cancellations made due to the virus.  Among the announcements made this week were an announcement by the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) group of promoters that it has cancelled all its scheduled events through the month of May. The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has also announced that it has suspended sanctioning bouts through the month of June. This likely was a contributing reason in the scheduled May 9th Undisputed Women’s Middleweight world championship fight between champion Claressa Shields and Marie Dicaire, which was scheduled to take place in Flint, MI as the main event of a Showtime televised Boxing card here in the United States. The promoter of the card, Salita Promotions has not announced a possible rescheduled date as of this writing. Rounding out the announcements as of this writing this week, the scheduled Atlantic City Hall of Fame induction weekend, which was scheduled to take place in Atlantic City, NJ between June 26th-28th has been postponed until the fall of the year on dates yet to be announced. Aussie Dylan Winter signs with Dragon Fire Boxing

Press Release: March 26, 2020 By Dragon Fire Boxing - Light Heavyweight Dylan ‘Soldier’ Winter has signed with Oceania management juggernauts Dragon Fire Boxing as he looks to continue his progression in the professional ranks.

Winter has reached 3-0 as a professional, with his last outing seeing him defeat amateur sensation and unbeaten Perth based Serbian Vasilije Radovic via a unanimous decision, in what many deemed Winter to be a long shot.

Winter opened up about his recent victory and his plans moving forward.

Winter said, “I was really happy with my last fight on the Thunderdome 33 event in Metro City, Perth, and thank you to Tony Tolj for getting me on and allowing me to show off skills in one of the featured fights. The Thunderdome series is an iconic part of Australian boxing so to be able to compete on these events really means a lot to me.

“Radovic had reportedly gone to Cuba for a training camp and he came to win but I knew I’d be too much for him and I proved that in the fight. People can underestimate me all the want but I’ve shown when I get in there they are facing someone with the attitude of stone cold killer.

“I want to continue to be in these real fights and give people value for money when I fight. I hav great support so anyone who fights me will be in for a frosty reception.”

Winter is now under the guidance of Australian boxing chieftain Tony Tolj, and Winter weighed in on his decision to sign with one of Australia’s mainstays.

WBC Australasian Champion Steve Gago signs a new long term deal with Dragon Fire Boxing

Press Release: March 21, 2020 By Dragon Fire Boxing - Steve Gago has followed up from his WBC Australasian title victory in his hometown of Perth by resigning a long term deal with Tony Tolj's Dragon Fire Boxing.

Gago has won multiple titles with various governing bodies whilst under the guidance of Tolj and Dragon Fire Boxing and has now committed his long term future to the standout Oceania based setup. 

‘The Timorese Terror’ opened up regarding resigning with Tolj and Dragon Fire Boxing. Gago said, “I’m absolutely delighted to have resigned with Tony Tolj and committing what could be the rest of my career to the Big Boss Man Tony and Dragon Fire Boxing. The reason I’ve done this is because Tony has always looked after me and got me the opportunities I’ve needed. I couldn’t be happier with Tony so I’ve committed to a long term deal with him. 

“I’ve won multiple titles with Dragon Fire and have boxed at the likes of the IBF convention in Macau. I couldn’t be happier with how my career has unfolded but I believe I still have more titles to win and Tony is the man to get me those opportunities.” 

Gago looked impressive as he recorded a sixth round stoppage of Geisler AP as he picked up a WBC belt in front of his hometown fans, and now the Perth native is setting his sights on climbing up the world ratings once again. The welterweight standout who has now contested titles with the WBA, WBO, IBF and WBC discussed his aspirations now he holds a WBC title. 

Gago said, “I was very grateful to be given the opportunity to fight for a WBC title. Everyone grows up dreaming of being a WBC champion so it was nice to win one of their belts. 

“I was really happy with my performance last time out but I believe I still have a lot more to give. I want to push to get into the world top 15 and go from there. I believe this is realistic and something that I can aim for in 2020.

“The welterweight division is full of top class talent and I want real fights. I’ve always said that and I believe that in 2020 that opportunities will present themselves to me and I will be ready to take them.”

Updated Coronavirus Boxing-Related Cancellations/Postponements 3/20/2020

The ongoing Coronavirus epidemic has continued to result in several cancellations and postponements in the sport of Boxing around the world. It was announced earlier this week that all combat sports events along with non-essential businesses have been shut down in the state of Nevada for thirty days. This has followed similar decisions made by the British Boxing Board of Control, who ruled in accordance with the British government to cancel all combat sports events for the remainder of March and April. This has resulted in several notable promoters including Matchroom Boxing, MTK Global, and Queensberry Promotions all cancelling their scheduled events. SES Boxing in Germany has also announced the cancellation of the scheduled March 28th card headlined by a Light-Heavyweight bout between Zac Dunn and Dominic Boesel has also been cancelled.

The epidemic has also begun affecting scheduled Boxing cards in the country of Australia, who has cancelled all events in the New South Wales region until May 18th. The cancellations include promoter Tony Tolj’s Dragon Fire Boxing’s scheduled BoxingMania 9 event scheduled for March 27th, Team Ellis’ Boxing’s scheduled event for tomorrow (March 21st), and the scheduled April 22nd event at Queensland Country Bank Stadium headlined by a bout between former world champion Jeff Horn and Tim Tszyu. Similarly, live Boxing cards promoted by Zanfer Promotions and Box Azteca in Mexico have been suspended until further notice. 

Cancellations throughout the sport also include the scheduled April 25th Golden Boy Promotions/Main Events promoted card headlined by a Light-Heavyweight bout between Sergey Kovalev and Sullivan Barrera, which was to take place at the Fantasy Springs Resort in Indio, CA, the scheduled April 11th card at the O2 Arena in London, England promoted by Queensberry Promotions headlined by a Heavyweight bout between Joe Joyce and Daniel Dubois. The Joyce-Dubois event has however, been rescheduled for Saturday, July 11th and will still take place at the O2 Arena. Promoter Bob Arum’s Top Rank, Inc. has also announced that the scheduled March 28th card headlined by a World Light-Heavyweight championship fight between champion Artur Beterbiev and IBF number one rated contender Meng Fanlong, which was to take place at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada has also been cancelled. 

The New York State Boxing Hall of Fame has also announced that their annual induction ceremony and dinner, which was scheduled for April 19th, will now take place on September 20th at Russo’s On The Bay in Howard Beach, NY. Andres "Crocodile" Campos Sets Sights On World Ratings

Press Release: March 18, 2020 By Dragon Fire Boxing – Andres "Crocodile" Campos moves to 9-0 and continued his excellent start to his professional career as he dominated undefeated Pedro Villegas 12-0 to retain his WBA Fedebol flyweight title whilst also capturing the WBO Latino flyweight title on the inaugural Dragon Fire Latino event in Santiago de Chile, Chile.

The event which saw the Dragon Fire Latino promotional debuts of 23 year old Cuban sensation "King" Raynel Mederos who moved to 4-0 as a professional and "The Rock" Raymond Mascarena Jr who also emerged victorious on the show presented by Tony Tolj and Nicholas "Maverick" Martinez in Chile, was main evented by fast-rising Campos who has put himself into a position that may see him challenge for global honors in the coming 12 months.

23-year-old Campos has been on fire in the pro ranks and has picked up 3 titles since linking up with Dragon Fire Boxing. Campos discussed his rapid progression under the guidance of Tony Tolj and Dragon Fire.

Campos said, "I am very grateful to my manager Tony Tolj, my promoter Nico "Maverick" Martinez everybody at Dragon Fire Boxing for guiding me in such a great way so far in my career. To win titles with the WBA and WBO is amazing and also becoming champion of my country is a great honor. So I am very grateful for the opportunities I have been given so far in the professional game.

"My last opponent Villegas was a tough opponent. He was undefeated and coming to win. I have not had it easy as a pro, I am always in real fights and that's how I like it. If you want to be the best you have to test yourself against real fighters and I am fortunate to have been successful against real fighters.

"Now I want to continue to hopefully climb up the world ratings and put myself in a position to fight for more titles in the coming months. I want to thank the WBA and WBO for giving me opportunities to fight for their titles and I hope that I can fight for many more of them in the future."

One of the guiding lights in Campos' career comes in the form of Dragon Fire Boxing chief Tony Tolj who weighed in on his Chilean charge.

Tolj said, "Andres has been a joy to work with from day one. We had him over in Australia where he worked with the Moloney's, Billel Dib and Bruno Tarimo and their trainer  Angelo and we were all really impressed. He is a great kid and he is going places trust me.

"He's hopefully going to be ranked in the world top 15 in the near future and after the COVID-19 issues are cleared up I want to continue to push him as fast as we can towards major titles as I believe he is definitely going to follow the likes of Andrew Moloney in becoming a world champion."

Updated Coronavirus Boxing-Related Cancellations 3/15/2020

As the world continues to deal with the ongoing Coronavirus epidemic, the sport of Boxing has continued to see numerous cancellations and postponements. These cancellations include all combat sports events in the state of California until further notice. All Boxing cards in Japan are cancelled through April 30th.

Kings Boxing Promotions cancelled their scheduled card on March 14th in Bethlehem, PA with a make up date to be announced. The scheduled April 14th World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) season two Cruiserweight final between Mairis Briedis and Yuniel Dorticos, which was due to take place in Riga, Latvia has also been cancelled.

This followed announcements of cancellations by Team Sauerland and Universum Boxpromotion that they have cancelled their scheduled April 4th event in Hamburg, Germany as well as cancellations by Raging Babe Promotions scheduled card on March 27th in Philadelphia, PA, Shearns Boxing Promotions scheduled March 20th event in Framingham, MA all being cancelled due to the ongoing virus epidemic.

While there were select events that have taken place in the sport globally in recent days, with travel restrictions expanded and the current uncertainty of the Coronavirus, more cancellations throughout the sport could be forthcoming. We will keep readers updated on developments as they become available and will do our best to provide coverage of events that do take place.

Additional Coronavirus Boxing-Related Cancellations 3/13/2020

In a follow-up to a story released earlier today concerning the Boxing-related cancellations/postponements that have come as a result of the ongoing  global Coronavirus epidemic, additional cancellations have been announced. These cancellations include the scheduled March 20^th Boxing card in Melbourne, Australia promoted by Brian Amatruda’s Big Time Boxing, which was to take place at the Melbourne Pavilion as well as the April 3^rd card at the same venue also promoted by Big Time Boxing.

As unfortunately more cancellations could be forthcoming around the world, we will be releasing any information in condensed-form going forward in an effort to cover as much information regarding cancellations/postponements due to the ongoing epidemic as possible. We will update readers on any developments as they become available.

Coronavirus Boxing-Related Cancellations Through The Remainder Of March 2020

As the world continues to deal with the Coronavirus epidemic and prepare for the potential of more cases globally, the sport of Boxing, much as has been the case throughout the rest of the sports world has begun canceling scheduled cards scheduled to take place in North America following similar decisions that have been made by Boxing promoters internationally.. On Thursday, several Boxing cards in several cities in the United States and Canada were all cancelled.

These cancellations include three Boxing cards scheduled to take place between March 12^th-March 21^st at the Casino de Montreal in Montreal, Canada. This was followed by announcements of cancellations of an April 4^th Boxing card in Portland, OR, which was to take place at the Clackamas Armory, the March 14^th Premier Boxing Champions card scheduled to be televised on Fox Sports 1 in the United States from the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD, two scheduled cards promoted by Top Rank Inc. to take place in the Theater at Madison Square Garden on March 14^th and March 17^th respectively that were scheduled to be broadcast by ESPN and digital sports streaming network ESPN+ in the United States.   Followed by additional announcements of cancellations of the  March 14^th Murphy’s Boxing event in Boston at the House of Blues, the March 19^th Broadway Boxing event promoted by Dibella Entertainment in Atlantic City, NJ both of those events  were scheduled to be broadcast on the UFC Fight Pass digital streaming network globally. Golden Boy Promotions announced the cancellation of two events scheduled to be broadcast on digital sports streaming network DAZN events on March 19^th at the Avalon in Hollywood, CA and the March 29^th scheduled card at The Forum in Inglewood, CA. The March 27^th event promoted by PR Best Boxing scheduled to take place at the Rubén Zayas Montañez Coliseum in Trujillo Alto, PR was also cancelled. The March 14^th Bareknuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) Bareknuckle Boxing event scheduled to be broadcast globally by Fite.TV Pay-Per-View from the InTrust Bamk Arena in Wichita, KS was also postponed with a tentative rescheduled date of June 20^th being announced with an announcement scheduled for Friday.

As many states and counties are continuing to monitor the spread of the virus, several have declared states of emergency. This prompted decisions by the NBA, NHL, NCAA, MLB, and XFL to suspend their seasons and scheduled events including the remainder of MLB’s Spring Training schedule and the scheduled NCAA College Basketball tournaments. Major League Baseball (MLB) has also announced that the scheduled start of the 2020 regular season would also be delayed, but no announcements have been made as of this writing as to when that might be.

Obviously, the Coronavirus will remain an ongoing story for the foreseeable future. While this will also change the Boxing schedule significantly as more postponements/cancellations across the world could be announced, we here at The Boxing Truth®️ will keep readers updated as to any announcements and rescheduling that might occur as well as to do our best to provide coverage of cards that  remain unaffected by the ongoing epidemic. Dragon Fire Boxing announce the launch of Dragon Fire Latino - Debut show on March 14

Dragon Fire Boxing has been headed up by Tony Tolj for decades, with Tolj being the driving force behind world champions such as WBA Champion of the decade Chris "The Dragon" John, "The Green Machine" Danny Green, Andrew "The Monster" Moloney among other top talents. 

Tolj and Dragon Fire have always been experts in uncovering talent throughout the globe of all shapes and sizes and now have taken their quest to uncover talent to a new level with the creation of Dragon Fire Latino, with its maiden show happening this coming weekend in Santiago de Chile, Chile. 

Dragon Fire chief Tony Tolj opened up about the motivation behind the creation of Dragon Fire Latino. 

Tolj said, “We went over to Chile with Andrew Moloney when he was fighting in a world title eliminator against Miguel Gonzalez and I saw how much talent was in Chile that wasn’t being developed to the fullest potential possibly. I think the South American promoter does a great job but I wanted to add our spin on things so I decided alongside the Dragon Fire Boxing team to create Dragon Fire Latino. 

“We signed Andres Campos and brought him over to work with the Moloney twins, Billel Dib and Bruno Tarimo and we were really impressed with his work ethic and his skill set. He made the team think about maybe looking to bring additional South American fighters on board so we proceeded to do that an put a show together which will take place this weekend.”

We have partnered with Chilean Nico “Maverick” Martinez, he will be hands on is based in Chile but is a licensed pilot so he is literally all over the world. When we were in Chile he really took care of us and we shared so many common visions about building opportunities in Chile and South America, it really is an honour and joy to work with such like minded people as my friend “Maverick” and our ever expanding team.

Nico Martinez opened up about Dragon Fire Boxing Latino “For me is an absolute honor to be partners with Tony Tolj, he is well respected man in boxing and within the time that I have known him he has given us all so much opportunities and the amount of boxing knowledge he has is unbelievable. I am very excited about our future together and Chilean boxing im sure will have a Golden era”

The upcoming event will feature three of Dragon Fire Latino’s latest recruits, with Andres Campos topping the card, defending his WBA Fedebol Flyweight title and contesting the vacant WBO Latino Flyweight title. 

Also featuring on the card are new Dragon Fire Latino signee’s Ramon “The Rock” Mascarena Jr and “King” Raynel Menderos who Tolj also has high hopes for. 

The Australian based Tolj opened up in saying, “I’m very excited about this coming Saturday and the future of Dragon Fire Latino. Ramon Mascarena Jr is a quality Chilean talent who hasn’t had an easy start to his career and I believe this has given him the foundations to go all the way to the top. 

“Raynel Menderos is from Cuba and in my opinion is going to be a massive world standout in the future. He’s 3-0 but has an unbelievable pedigree, and still in his early 20s which will serve him well in his career. 

“I’ve spoken highly of Andres Campos on multiple occasions but he’s a class act and is being moved quickly as a professional as he’s a top talent. I’m really excited for him to continue to win titles this Saturday night and begin a very exciting future for Dragon Fire Latino.”
