Boxing is a sport that has many stories throughout its history. These stories can at times revolve around the dominance of a fighter throughout their career. The history of the sport is full of stories of such fighters. Among them is the story of Gennady Golovkin, a fighter known simply by his initials GGG. Golovkin reigned supreme over the 160lb. Middleweight division for several years becoming a unified world champion and establishing a reputation as a feared “Knockout Artist.” As has been the case for fighters who earn that reputation/label came a problem in securing fights against fighters that are thought of as stars in the sport. A not so uncommon scenario that occurs in the sport of Boxing is one that sees a fighter face what amounts to a substitute opponent that takes a fight on short notice. While the circumstances that lead to such a scenario can vary, the fighter who steps into a fight with limited time to prepare is almost always viewed as someone with little chance of success against the established fighter with name recognition.
