Former Two-Division World Champion Boxer Paulie Malignaggi Signs Three Fight Deal With BKB Bareknuckle Boxing

Credit: BKB Bareknuckle Boxing

Press Release: June 17, 2025 By BKB Bareknuckle Boxing - Miami, Florida - Former IBF junior welterweight and WBA welterweight champion Paulie “Magic Man” Malignaggi announced today his return to fighting, signing a three-fight deal with BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing in hopes of becoming a 2-sport world champion and adding the historic Police Gazette Diamond Belt to his collection.

Malignaggi, who has served as BKB’s color commentator and lead analyst since 2021, will fight in the BKB Super Welterweight division and is slated to return to action and make his Trigon debut at BKB 45 on September 6 in Bristol, England.

Malignaggi, born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Sicily, holds a professional boxing record of 36-8 and has fought some of the biggest names in the sport including Miguel Cotto, Shawn Porter, Adrian Broner, Ricky Hatton and Zab Judah.

He notes that while it would be easy to leverage his name for an immediate shot at a BKB Bare Knuckle title (currently held by Wales’ Liam Rees), his desire is to first fight a contender and work his way to a shot at the title rather than leapfrogging fighters who have put in their time into the sport.

Said Malignaggi, “ I could easily use my position to jump right back into a title fight. But you know what? That's not what I'm going to do. I respect the fighters too much. Here at BKB, there's really good contenders in the super welterweight division. I know that I when this announcement gets around to the contenders, they're all going to want a piece of me. I want to fight one of those top contenders and earn my spot. I don't want to jump the line.  I still got what got the goods and I'm chasing that title.”

BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing consists of 5 3-minute rounds (6x3 for title fights) and is fought in the patented triangular ring, the Mighty Trigon - the smallest fighting surface in combat sports. Malignaggi feels that both the Trigon and the number of rounds best suit him at this stage of his career, and that his experience will be advantageous to his success.

“Having sat ringside at BKB for three years, taking in these amazing fights, I'm always thinking, ‘These guys are impressive, but you know what? I think I can still do that.’ I used to fight 10, 12 rounds. I can still do 5 or 6 rounds.

“Ultimately, I want to prove something to myself.  I’m in the best shape I’ve been in in years, and being able to say I’ve been at the top of the game in two sports would just solidify my legacy in fighting. I don’t know who my first opponent will be yet, but I am confident that BKB will give me someone I can really test myself against.”

BKB’s next event will be this Saturday at 6 CT when Bare Knuckle Boxing makes its Tennessee debut at The Pinnacle in Nashville for BKB 42 Musich City Brawl. BKB then returns to the UK July 5 for BKB 43 in Bristol, England.  BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing airs live exclusively on VICE TV in the US and Canada and on talkSPORT in the UK and Ireland.  Visit bkbbareknuckle.com for tickets, information and all ways to watch.

MANUEL GALLEGOS VS RICHARD VANSICLEN HEADLINES PROBOX TV ON FEBRUARY 22

Press Release: February 18, 2023 – By ProBox TV – Mexican super middleweight Manuel Gallegos takes on undefeated Richard Vansiclen on ProBox TV, on a night that features some of the networks hottest prospects.

Gallegos holds an impressive 19-1 record with 16 of his wins coming inside the scheduled distance. Vansiclen, 13-0, 6KOs upset the odds last time out, besting Hakim Lopez over 8 rounds to claim a unanimous decision victory.

Boxing legend Paulie Malignaggi, who was present at Vansiclen's last outing, gave his take on the fight.

The Magic Man stated, "Vansiclen is a tough game fighter who really comes to fight. He has a great story behind him and he has a lot of heart. Vansiclen upset the odds last time out against Hakim Lopez, and he deserved that victory.

"I've watched Gallegos and he is an action fighter, which is what ProBox TV is all about. Guys that come to fight and Gallegos is one of them. It's a close fight and I expect it to be an entertaining fight for the fans to enjoy.

The supporting cast of Future Stars on ProBox TV include the highly rated trio of Najee Lopez, Darrelle Valsaint and Marques Valle whom all have been deemed Future Stars by the ProBox TV hierarchy.

Brooklyn native Malignaggi, who descended to the stars himself in the boxing world, becoming a two-weight world champion gave his assessment of the trio.

Malignaggi said, "Darrelle Valsaint is coming off the Tokyo Olympics with a lot of momentum. I think Valsaint is a real talent, he's the full package. Darrelle is an exciting, great combination puncher with excellent fundamentals.

"Najee Lopez has moved down in weight from cruiserweight and I believe we're going to see a completely different animal. He was excellent at cruiser, but at 175 this kid really is something special.

"Marques Valle is a machine, a really strong fighter that is constant pressure with a massive punch output. They all have live opponents so these fights should all be great developmental fights and exciting to watch free on ProBox TV's YouTube channel."

Paulie Malignaggi Outlines His Wishes For 2023

Press Release: January 22, 2023 – By ProBox TV – Two-weight world champion Paulie Malignaggi is still keeping busy in the boxing world, as he holds a position of one of ProBox TV's front men in the years after his ring retirement.

ProBox TV which debuts its Future Stars Wednesday's on January 25, will see Malignaggi analysing the fight from ringside, as he continues to work on the ProBox TV venture in multiple media based capacities.

Malignaggi opened up, as he dived into his roles with ProBox TV, "I've been at ProBox TV during the entire inception, for nearly 2 years, and we're out of BETA mode now and we're beginning to fire on all cylinders regarding content.

"We're going to be producing talk shows analyzing boxing's biggest events and ongoings fight breakdowns, and of course I'll be on commentary for all the events starting Jan 25 in Tampa, FL. It's really exciting for boxing that we're going to have our very own Boxing Channel starting with Brooklyn's Cesar Francis who I think can be world champion at super lightweight.

"The content is going to be with some of boxing's biggest names like Juan Manuel Marquez, and guests every month with us giving our opinions on what's going on in the boxing world and a dedicated newsteam to bring you the news around the clock. ProBox TV is really a one-stop-shop for boxing fans and I'm really happy to be a part of it."
The Brooklyn native Malignaggi, who was recently inducted into the New York Boxing Hall of Fame alongside former foe Zab Judah has frequented multiple leading platforms offering his input on in ring action, with many considering Malignaggi to be one of the sports best analysts.

The former super lightweight and welterweight gave his take on what he hopes for boxing as a whole in 2023. He said, "I want to see better judging in fights. I really hope the days of fighters being robbed comes to an end, I really do. There has to be stricter punishments from commissions and sanctioning bodies against bad judging. This can't continue as this doesn't just affect fighters financially, but it can negatively affect their health in different ways.

"When I was fighting the best for the best and there was respect after it. Boxing needs to go back to those days where the best fought the best and networks didn't interfere. I want to see Fury fight Usyk and even Fury fight AJ which is a massive fight in the UK. I want to see Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia go at it too, as that will bring a lot of eyes back to boxing that I hope continue to watch boxing after that fight.

We need to think about what fights the next generation of fight fans will watch and remember as that's the fight that got me into boxing. I remember watching Arturo Gatti growing up and wanting to box after watching him. Arturo was a great fighter and a great man, and boxing needs those type of fighters in real fights like Gatti-Ward. It's those fights that keep boxing fans around the sport for years to come."
