Jabs And Observations July 2025 Update

We would like to let our readers know that an edition of the periodic feature column Jabs And Observations is currently in the works that will cover some of the events that have taken place during the month of July, which will be released here on The Boxing Truth®️ on Thursday, August 14th. From that point, we will return with a modified schedule through the remainder of the summer due largely to uncertainty of hurricane season and not wanting to have several unplanned pauses and resumptions in the schedule as has unfortunately been the case in recent years. Although obviously not our intention, we feel such paises is not fair to our loyal readers and we do sincerely appreciate your patience when pauses have occurred that has been beyond our control. We will, however, be active in a modified form which is intended to avoid such pauses in the future. If circumstances deem necessary, however, we will update here on the website if a pause is needed due to mother nature. In the interim, con...

Making The Best Of Unforseen Circumstances, Mercito Gesta Seizes The Day

Originally, this column was to be the follow-up/post-fight feature to the much anticipated Light-Heavyweight clash between former WBC Super-Middleweight world champion Gilberto Ramirez and longtime veteran contender and former world title challenger Gabriel Rosado in what was to be Rosado's debut in the 175lb. Light-Heavyweight division. As most now know however, the fight was cancelled on the day before the scheduled March 18th bout at the official weigh-in when Ramirez arrived in being what was described as significantly overweight and in no condition to attempt to get down in weight to a point where the bout was salvageable, resulting in the fight being cancelled. While this is certainly nothing new in the sport of Boxing as it is unfortunately all too common for there to be complications regarding the weight of a fighter in at least one bout on a full card, the cancellation, though disappointing did not result in the entire card being cancelled along with it as unfortunately al...

Jabs And Observations September-November 2022

While it was originally intended as a monthly to bi-monthly feature that was introduced earlier this year by this observer here on The Boxing Truth® as a means to frankly cover as much ground as possible in covering the sport of Boxing beyond the short-form card coverage and individual features that cover specific fights and subjects throughout the calendar year, Jabs And Observations has been absent since March. Although this was not intended as such, I felt coverage provided throughout 2022 had been smooth where the feature would be used on an occasional basis for the remainder of the year when circumstances warranted, with the aim of returning it as a bi-monthly feature column in 2023. As tends to be the case from the months of September through the remainder of a year, yours truly began the month of September in the midst of what I consider to be my norm, covering what usually tends to be a very active Boxing schedule during the latter months of the year. Even though most ...

Update: Jabs And Observations

We would like to let our readers know that we are between rounds and will return with a special edition of our periodic feature that was introduced earlier this year Jabs and Observations, that will discuss several topics spanning from late September to November 2022, on Thanksgiving eve here in the United States, Wednesday, November 23rd. In the interim, any content that is sent in for release from promoters, networks, and others involved in the sport of Boxing will be released here on the website as normal as they are sent in. Jabs And Observations: February 2022

A new feature here on The Boxing Truth® Jabs And Observations that was introduced in the month of January that will hopefully become a regular fixture of the rotation of content offered to readers as well as in an effort to cover more ground by this observer in regard to the events and happenings in the world of Boxing. Following the feature’s first installment last month, the time has come for the February 2022 edition. While there has been plenty that has gone on outside of the Boxing ring over the last several weeks that will be touched upon later in this month's Jabs And Observations, the February installment should begin with what has happened inside the ring. To be more specific, some of the events that took place over February 18th and 19th around the Boxing world.   Obviously, one that is knowledgeable in regard to the sport of Boxing knows that it is a sport that truly operates twenty-four hours a day, three-hundred sixty-five days a year both in and out of the r...

Jabs And Observations: January 2022

A new feature for 2022 here on The Boxing Truth®, which this observer hopes will become a semi-regular addition amongst the variety of content offered to readers where yours truly will attempt as best as he can to cover several topics in a condensed manner that may or may not be worthy of a standalone feature column.   As some Boxing fans know, the month of January has been a relatively slow one for the sport of Boxing. This is due in part to several scheduled international Boxing cards being cancelled and/or rescheduled due to the ongoing global COVID-19 epidemic and travel restrictions internationally as several countries look to limit exposure to the COVID-19 virus.  There was however, one notable bout that took place on January 15 th in Verona, NY. I am referring to WBO Light-Heavyweight world champion Joe Smith Jr., who defended his title against late substitute Steve Geffrard. Much like several other bouts to have taken place over the last two years throughout th...
