It has been announced that the scheduled August 12th rematch between former two-time Heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua and former world title challenger Dillian Whyte has been cancelled. The bout, which was to take place at the O2 Arena in London, England was cancelled earlier today by promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing after Whyte had what was being described as a quote "Adverse Finding" in random pre-fight testing conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency ( VADA ) of which both fighters are enrolled according to a statement released on the promotional company's respective social media platforms.  As of this writing, there is no word on whether there will be an attempt to reschedule the bout, which was to headline a Boxing card broadcast by digital subscription sports streaming network DAZN and DAZN Pay-Per-View in select countries.   Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, September 8, 2022, it has been announced that Saturday’s scheduled all Women’s Boxing card, which was to be headlined by two world championship unification bouts featuring Claressa Shields vs Savannah Marshall for the Undisputed Middleweight championship of the world and Mikaela Mayer and Alycia Baumgardner in a Jr. Lightweight unification bout, that was to take place at the O2 Arena in London, England has been postponed as the United Kingdom begins a period of mourning. The announcement follows postponements of several events that were to have taken place throughout the United Kingdom including several Football (Soccer) league matches, the postponement of a PGA Golf tournament, among other events.     Prior to the announcement on Friday, it had been announced by Boxxer, the promotional company behind the card had intended to hold a private weigh-in for the event. European Welterweight champion David Avanesyan successfully made the fourth defense of his crown by scoring an impressive second round stoppage of Liam Taylor on Saturday night at the Wembley Arena in London, England. Taylor had some success in the opening round by landing some body shots on the champion, but Avanesyan as is his custom, applied steady pressure on his challenger and dropped Taylor late in the first round with a short right hand to the head. At this point in the fight, Taylor made a decision that seemingly said that if he could not box against a steady pressure fighter like Avanesyan, his strategy would be to go toe to toe. This proved to be very costly for the challenger as trading punches with the champion played right into Avanesyan’s hands and following a right hand, left hook combination that appeared to momentarily make Taylor go limb, Referee Mark Lyson stepped in and stopped the fight before any further damage could be done.
