Sanman's Plania Eyes Bounce-Back Win On "Magic Show" Card In Polomolok, South Cotabato

Mike Plania In Action Credit: Sanman Promotions
Press Release: May 1, 2018 By Sanman Promotions –After falling short in his US debut, Sanman Boxing Gym's Mike Plania looks to get back on track when he headlines "Magic Show" on May 19 in Polomolok, South Cotabato. Plania faltered in his first fight in the US last March 23 but put up a gallant stand before tasting a unanimous decision loss to former world champion Juan Carlos Payano.

The win earned Payano the vacant WBO Inter-Continental bantamweight belt, while Plania endured his first loss after starting his career with 14 straight wins, highlighted by seven knockout victories. Plania's opponent is yet to be determined as the full card is still being finalized, said Sanman Promotions CEO Jim Claude Manangquil. Manangquil is confident that Plania can overcome the hump following the failed US debut.

"I am confident that he can recover. He is still young and we believe in his talent," said Manangquil. The upcoming card promises to be an explosive one as former WBA World light flyweight champion Randy Petalcorin and Jake Bornea will also be seeing action. Petalcorin, who sports a 28W-2L-1D, 21KOs record, is on a five-fight winning streak. His last loss came on April 15, 2016 wherein he vowed to Omari Kimweri for the vacant WBC Silver Flyweight title. Bornea, for his part, is gunning for a third straight win. He won over Jestonie Makiputin via a second-round knockout that hiked his record to 13W-2L-0D, 7KOs.

WORLD RATED ANDREW MOLONEY vs CLAVERAS SET FOR MAY 19 IN MELBOURNE

Press Release: April 18, 2018 by Hosking Promotions – WBA #6, IBF #5, WBC #5 Undefeated Australian boxing sensation Andrew “The Monster” Moloney 16 (10 KOs) - 0 returns to the ring for his second outing of 2018.

Moloney defends his World Boxing Association Oceania Super Flyweight title for the 3rd time in as many fights against Richard Claveras 18(15 KOs) – 3 (1 KOs) -2. The fight will be at Malvern Town Hall in Melbourne Australia on the 19thof May.

“It’s an honour for me to represent the WBA. They have shown great support of me so I will continue to show my appreciation and continue defending their title”.

This will be Moloneys 8th WBA regional fight and is sitting at number 6 in the World ratings and is knocking on the door for the coveted WBA World Super Flyweight Championship against Englishman Kal Yafai.

“This is the fight I want.  I have watched a lot of Yafai’s fights and I truly believe I can beat him and achieve my dream of becoming World Champion.  All I see is me winning the fight and having that World Title belt around my waist.  Yafai is a good fighter, he is a world champion for a reason but I believe I have what it takes to beat him”.

Moloney will need to get past Claveras first. With an 83% Knock out ratio from his 18 Victories, the man known as “Explosive” states he will not leave it to the judges hands.

Claveras is no stranger to traveling either, June 13th last year Claveras lost a controversial split decision for the coveted OPBF Championship to Keisuke Nakayama at the World famous Korakeun Hall in Japan. Most ringside believe the Filipino did enough to get his hand raised.  In November 2015 he also fought for the WBC World Light Flyweight Title against Mexicos Pedro “Pedrin” Guevara. The pedigree of Claveras cannot be questioned and Moloney will need to be at the top of his game.

“I have watched a few of Claveras fights now. I can see that he is a strong fighter and know that he is going to come here to fight.  He has a come forward style and lets his hands go, so I’m sure the fans will be in for a real treat on May 19.

Claveras has 15 ko’s out of his 18 wins so I would say his power would be his biggest strength.  I am going to have to be switched on at all times during this fight and avoid getting hit as this guy obviously has knockout power.

My preparation has been great so far.  Since moving to NSW to train with Angelo Hyder I really have lived the life of a professional athlete. I continued to train after my last fight and didn’t let myself get out of shape, so I started training camp already in good condition.  We have two sparring partners coming over from the Philippines, with similar styles to my opponent so we will have some great sparring over the next three and a half weeks to finish off camp” – states Moloney

May 19th – a Blockbuster Twin Bill featuring Australias biggest prospect Andrew and Jason Moloney.

“I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who supports Team Moloney. Especially those who come out and support us on fight night. These are extremely exciting times in both mine and Jason’s careers and we wouldn’t be in this position without the amazing support these people have shown us.”
