Hurd And Rosario Fight To A Draw

In a battle of former unified Jr. Middleweight world champions Jareet Hurd and Jeison Rosario fought to a highly competitive ten round split decision draw on Wednesday night at the ProBox Events Center in Plant City, FL. Now competing as Middleweights, both fighters had their say throughout, but it was Hurd who seemed to carry the action early by using his reach to keep Rosario at the end of his jab.

This was the pattern of the fight for the first several rounds with Hurd occasionally mixing in combinations behind his jab and making it difficult for Rosario to get close or land punches with consistency. As it seemed as though Hurd might be able to contently box his way to a convincing decision victory, Rosario's pressure gradually began to close the gap and by the middle rounds the combat was being fought in close where both fighters connected with solid hooks to the head. While this may have made the action more competitive, it did not seem to be to Hurd’s benefit to engage in the inside because when he used his jab and lateral movement to keep Rosario at distance, one might argue that it was a different fight.

Hurd was unable to get things back into the rhythm he had established in the early rounds, and by the late rounds, it seemed as though Rosario was in control. With the fight seemingly up for grabs going into the tenth and final round, Rosario would put forth one of his better rounds of the bout by being aggressive and keeping Hurd on the defensive. Rosario's rally over the second half of the fight did succeed in both making it competitive as well as narrowing the scorecards, but he was unable to pull out the victory as the three official judges were split in their scoring resulting in a draw being declared.

Official scores were 96-94(Hurd),96-94 (Rosario), and 95-95 resulting in a split decision draw. Jarrett Hurd advances to 25-3-1, with 17 Knockouts. Jeison Rosario advances to 24-4-2, with 18 Knockouts.

Also on this card:

Bantamweight Michael Angeletti scored a tactical and workmanlike ten round unanimous decision over Geraldo Valdez. Angeletti simply went through the motions throughout the fight, tactically out Boxing Valdez in what was a competitive bout throughout. The highlight came in the eighth round when Angeletti seemed to have Valdez on the verge of being stopped after badly hurting him with a left hook to the body. Valdez showed his mettle, survived the round, and made it to the final bell. Official scores were 97-93,and 98-92 (On two scorecards) in favor of Angeletti.  Michael Angeletti advances to 12-0, with 7 Knockouts. Geraldo Valdez falls to 16-2, with 11 Knockouts.

Undefeated Jr. Lightweight Dominic Valle scored a hard- fought eight round unanimous decision over a very “Game"

Kevin Piedrahita. Valle’s combination punches and lateral movement carried the action in the first five rounds, but the constant pressure of Piedrahita opened up opportunities for him in the latter rounds including staggering Valle with a left hook to the head in the seventh round, but Valle was able to maintain and secure a convincing decision victory.. Official scores were 78-74, 79-73 (On two scorecards) in favor of Valle. Dominic Valle advances to 10-0, with 7 Knockouts. Kevin Piedrahita falls to 9-3, with 8 Knockouts.

Unbeaten Heavyweight and former two-time Olympic Bronze medalist Ivan Dychko scored a second round stoppage of Craig Lewis. Dychko floored Lewis in the second round with a flush overhand right and badly staggered him later in the round with another right hand, which forced the stoppage.  Official time of the stoppage was 2:05 of round two. Ivan Dychko 14-0, with 13 Knockouts. Craig Lewis falls to 15-8-1, with 8 Knockouts.

Jr. Welterweights  Tristan Gallichan and Renny Mastrapa fought to a six round split decision draw to begin the evening. Mastrapa kept Gallichan moving backward during the first half of the fight and was generally the more aggressive fighter, but Gallichan seemed to get the better of the action in spots in the later rounds.   Official scores were 58-56 (Mastrapa), 58-56 (Gallichan),  and 57-57 resulting in a split decision draw. Tristan Gallichan advances to 5-0-2, with 3 Knockouts. Renny Mastrapa advances to 3-1-1, with 2 Knockouts.

Some may have labeled the encounter between Jarrett Hurd and Jeison Rosario as a “Crossroads Fight" or perhaps even win or retire for either fighter. In reality, both former world champions performed well against each other and each still has the benefit of name recognition, which should keep opportunities open for them if each can continue to be competitive. This fight was the first for both competing under the ProBox Promotions and the ProBox TV banner and though the obvious thing to do might be to set up a rematch, it may come down to how quickly either Hurd and Rosario want to get back in the ring and whether other opportunities might be available to either under the ProBox banner that will determine if there will be a second encounter.

Adorno-Walters Headlines March 27 Edition Wednesday Night Fights On ProBox TV

Press Release: March 24, 2024 By   ProBox TV- Joseph Adorno (18-3-2, 15KOs) and Nicholas Walters (28-1-1, 22KOs) get set to leave it all on the line on the March 27 edition of ProBox TV's Wednesday Night Fights.

Credit: ProBox TV

The pair meet in what can only be described as a crossroads fight for the WBA Continental Americas Lightweight title, with the winner looking to gatecrash the world ratings and the loser having a rebuilding job on their hands.

In another 50/50 banger, Jesus Saracho (13-1, 11KOs) clashes with Starling Castillo (18-1-1, 13KOs) in a fight that you can argue will have no losers, as both men look to steal the show on ProBox TV.

Omar Juarez (14-2, 5KOs) returns from his layoff against local favorite Clarence Booth (21-9, 13KOs) as Juarez looks to put himself back in contention for a big fight, as Booth remains upset minded.

Highly rated former amateur standout David Navarro (6-1, 3KOs) faces undefeated opposition in Justin Goodson (8-0, 8KOs) in a fight that has all the possibilities of stealing the show in itself.

'Hot Rod' ready to make statement against Sullivan Barrera on ProBox TV, eyes Bivol next

Light heavyweight contender 'Hot Rod' Radivoke Kalajdzic is setting out to make a statement against fellow world title challenger Sullivan Barrera this Wednesday night on ProBox TV.

Kalajdzic returned to the ring last year, stopping the tough Mickey Ellison, and is fully focused on Sullivan Barrera as a championship fight looms for the winner.

'Hot Rod' opened up about his regional title clash this Wednesday night, "Barrera is a quality fighter, I have a lot of respect for him. He has competed at the top level and fought the best out there.

"I haven't overlooked this fight for one second, this is light heavyweight boxing, anyone can get caught cold, however, I believe I can stop Sullivan Barrera this Wednesday and put the division on notice again."

'Hot Rod' joined ProBox TV in 2023, and has already reinstated himself in the world ratings, and now sets his sights on challenging 175 champion Dmitry Bivol.

The Tampa based light heavyweight discussed a potential showdown with Bivol.

He said, "Look, I have all my focus on Barrera right now, and want to show my class against him on Wednesday night, but I will leave it down to my team Ryan Rickey and ProBox TV to push for the Bivol fight.

"We were close to making that fight last year but he chose the easier fight with Lyndon Arthur. That makes no odds to me we can fight next or I can work myself into a mandatory position.

"Whatever we need to do to make the fight with Bivol, we will after I make a statement this Wednesday against Barrera."

ANGELO LEO SPARKLES WITH KNOCKOUT WIN OVER MIKE PLANIA IN WNF MAIN-EVENT

Press Release: February 1, 2024 By ProBox TV -

Credit: ProBox TV

Former super bantamweight world champion Angelo Leo needed just three rounds to finish Mike Plania in WNF’s main-event this evening in Plant City, Florida. The pair collided at featherweight in a ten round bout.

The opening minute drew little action from the first round. Plania took the center of the ring with Leo moving around the perimeter. Leo’s jab started to open up as the halfway point passed, throwing a combination to the body shortly after. Plania landed a good left hand in the final minute. The pair traded relatively evenly just ahead of the bell.

Leo hit Plania with a hook to the body at the start of round two. He missed by a large distance with an overhand right seconds later but landed a right to the body on the follow up. Leo was fainting to give Plania food for thought, slowing the fight down at this early stage to his rhythm. Leo ducked a combination from Plania after a minute with little else to report until Leo landed good body shots with less than 30 seconds on the clock. He landed another sharp combination to the head to close the round.

Leo appeared to make a breakthrough at the end of the second round. He landed a rapid combination to Plania’s body to open round three. There was a lot of caution from both men as they both held a high guard. Leo worked the body again after a minute, Plania responded with an uppercut that caught the glove. Leo planted his feet to land a much more intensive right to the body halfway through the round, followed by a left to the body and another right to the head. Leo landed a neck-snapping counterjab to approach the final minute. Plania responded with a good uppercut.

Leo worked his way inside to land a short-sharp left right combination to the head. Leo went after Plania with a right to the body, a left-right combination to the body quickly followed, sending Plania to the canvas holding his stomach at 0:36. However, to the disbelief of commentary team Paulie Malignaggi and Chris Algieri, the referee ruled the shot too low.

With Plania pinned to the canvas, the referee eventually called the fight off to give Leo the knockout victory due to a legal body shot. The ProBox TV replay showed a perfectly legal shot from Leo.

Leo picks up a second straight knockout victory on WNF, his record improving to 23-1 (11 KOs). Plania’s record moves to 29-4 (16 KOs), picking up a second career knockout loss in Florida.

Angelo Leo Is Ready To Be ‘One Step Closer’ To Title

Press Release: January 25, 2024 By ProBox TV - Angelo Leo is aiming to be a two-division world champion.

Credit: ProBox TV

His January 31 main event bout against Mike Plania on ProBox TV’s Wednesday Night Fights, in Plant City, Florida is, he hopes, the next step towards that goal.

Leo, the former WBO super-bantamweight champion, now campaigns at featherweight. Trained by his father, Miguel Leo, the duo relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. Originally from Albuquerque, they moved to Los Angeles but because of the bad traffic and the expensive cost of living, they sought opportunities elsewhere. Leo now calls Las Vegas home.

“Vegas was our second relocation, our first was Los Angeles,” Leo told ProBox TV. “We stayed there in Los Angeles for around two-to-three years, then we decided to move back to Albuquerque when I turned pro, and then we decided to move to Vegas. Vegas was the place to be, it wasn’t too far from L.A. There is a big boxing community here, and it is probably the best move we made.”

Currently ranked No. 9 by the WBA at featherweight, Leo reflected on his upcoming opponent.

“I have seen Mike fight before, he is a good fighter,” Leo said. “He is explosive, and he is a formidable opponent.”

“He fought [Joshua] Greer at 118 [lbs], I believe, and then he moved up to 122. His last fight was a 130 [lbs], and this one is at 126 [lbs]. He is kind of back-and-forth [between weight classes]…it doesn’t worry me, we are here to get that W.”

Leo made it clear this is the next step toward his goal of becoming a two-division world champion. The 29-year-old prizefighter, nicknamed ‘El Chinito’, has a record of 22 wins, one loss, with 10 knockouts and he is eager to make a run at a belt.

“My goal is to win the featherweight world title. I want to win a second world title in a different weight class. The goal is just to keep winning. Get that W January 31st, and then from there see what ProBox has in store for me.”

WNF is available in both English and Spanish with commentary and analysis from former world champions Paulie Malignaggi, Chris Algieri and Juan Manuel Marquez

Gonzalez Pounds Out Majority Decision Over Castaneda In War

Press Release: November 30, 2023 By ProBox TV-  ProBox Promotions continues to be the number one destination for mid-week boxing as the card from Wednesday, November 29 delivered, which streamed live on the ProBoxTV YouTube page and app. This week’s bouts saw another war during the main event, a junior middleweight prospect being tested, and a boxing lesson from a welterweight prospect.

Credit: ProBox TV

Orlando Gonzalez goes to war and comes out with a majority decision victory

The main event delivered big time as Orlando Gonzalez (22-2,12 KOs) earned a majority decision victory over Jorge Castaneda (16-3, 12 KOs) in an absolute war. The judges saw this one: 95-95 (Castaneda), 97-92 (Gonzalez) & 96-93 for Gonzalez.

Gonzalez started quickly in the first round, and towards the middle of the round, he landed a straight left down the middle, which buckled Castaneda and had him visibly hurt. Castaneda started to bleed from his nose during the second round, but it didn’t bother him. Gonzalez landed a devastating right hook and followed it with a left hook, knocking down Castaneda for the first time in the fight. Castaneda would beat the count and survive the round.

Castaneda had a bounce-back round in the third, but Gonzalez’s footwork and counter hooks were too much to handle. Castaneda looked visibly frustrated as he could not get going. Castaneda landed a huge one-two combination that rocked Gonzalez in the fourth round, and the momentum quickly shifted back to him.

The fight was fought in a phone booth in the fifth round, and Gonzalez’s body shots were adding up. The crowd at this point were loud and cheering on their respective fighter. Castaneda landed a clean double left hook in the sixth round, while Gonzalez’s check right hooks kept Castaneda honest. Gonzalez would control the seventh round with his level-changing shots, but Castaneda deflated Gonzalez with a left hook to the body and a triple left uppercut in the eighth. Although Gonzalez showed his warrior spirit by coming back, he was clearly hurt.

Castaneda stalked Gonzalez in the ninth round and hurt him with a left hook to the body. Although Castaneda hurt Gonzalez, he couldn’t put enough together for a knockdown, so Gonzalez survived the round. In the tenth and final round, both men emptied their tanks, hoping to sway the judges in their direction, but in the end, Gonzalez did a little more to secure the victory.

Tarik Zaina easily outboxes Marcelino Nicolas Lopez

Tarik Zaina (13-0-1, 8 KOs) had no trouble with scoring a unanimous decision (97-93, 98-92 & 99-91) victory over Marcelino Nicolas Lopez (37-4-1, 22 KOs) as the card’s co-feature.

Zaina showed good lateral movement in the opening round, while Lopez established his left jab and scored with an overhand right. Throughout the first half of the fight, Lopez threw the overhand right, which landed at times but missed most of his attempts. Midway through the fight, Lopez started to chase Zaina, which didn’t work out for him as he was on the receiving end of a left jab.

At the start of the seventh round, Zaina switched to southpaw, and Lopez could not make any adjustments to counter the punches he was receiving. Zaina dictated the pace with his right jab for the rest of the fight, which helped secure the unanimous decision.

Marques Valle scores a tough unanimous decision

Undefeated super welterweight Marques Valle (10-0, 7 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over Farid Ngoga (10-1, 6 KOs). The judges saw this one 77-75, 78-74, 78-74 for Valle, who had his hands full all night.

Ngoga was dictating the pace with a left jab in the first round. Valle was stalking but not landing too many punches. In the second round, Valle landed his left jab and finished it with a right uppercut. Ngoga seemed fatigued, which allowed Valle to get some big shots off. Ngoga did land some combinations of his own, which created some swelling on Valle’s face.

In the third round, Ngoga found a home for his overhand right, but Valle was determined to apply as much pressure as possible, and towards the end of the round, he landed a triple right uppercut, which stunned Ngoga. After more of the same in the fourth round, Ngoga switched to southpaw in the fifth round and landed a ton of right jabs, which gave Valle something to think about.

Ngoga stayed in the southpaw stance throughout the rest of the fight, which saw him succeed with the right jab. Valle looked confused, and towards the end of the sixth round, Ngoga created a cut under Valle's left eye. Both men finished the final round strong, but the judges liked the cleaner, harder shots from Valle, which resulted in him earning the unanimous decision.

A competitive bantamweight fight that resulted in a draw

“This is the kind of fight that if you are a judge, what do you like?”- Chris Algieri

In the night's opening fight, Joahnys Argilagos (9-1-1, 4 KOs) & Jose Lopez (4-2-3, 0 KO) fought to a draw in a competitive bantamweight battle. The judges saw this one 78-74 (Lopez), 77-75 (Argilagos) & 76-76, which resulted in the fight being a draw.

In the first round, Argilagos started fast with combinations, while Lopez dedicated his offense downstairs to the body. Lopez then started to see Argilagos hands come down a bit, leading Lopez to start landing big right hands. Argilagos wasn’t as active in the second round, but he had the flashier combinations. Lopez continued his workman-like style and kept pressure on Argilagos with the left jab and overhand right.

Rounds three to seven were more of the same. Argilagos would throw the showy punches in spurts while Lopez kept coming forward while landing a ton of punches to the body and an overhand right that landed throughout the fight. In the last round, the fighters went toe-to-toe as they knew the fight was still up for grabs. Although there were no knockdowns, the crowd roared as the fight concluded.

Chris Algieri: When you look at records you lean towards Orlando Gonzalez, but don't sleep on a guy like Jorge Castaneda

Press Release: November 28, 2023 By ProBox TV-  Orlando Gonzalez will collide with Jorge Castaneda on ProBox TV's Wednesday Night Fights in two days time. The pair will clash over 10 rounds at super featherweight as the main attraction in Plant City, Florida.

Credit: ProBox TV

Gonzalez (21-2, 12 KOs) took part in a Fight of the Year contender defeating Ramiro Cesena on points this past July. Castaneda (16-2, 12 KOs) comes off a late knockout victory against Nestor Medellin in August.

Former world champion and WNF commentator Chris Algieri previewed the upcoming bout.

"Castaneda is a tough guy, an upset minded guy." Algieri said. "He beat the very highly touted Otha Jones III. Gave him his first loss, he was a really good amateur, who I think was signed right away to Matchroom. There was a lot of hype behind him and Castaneda beat him. A couple of fights ago he had a shootout that did not go his way, with Eduardo Hernandez who just had an incredible fight with O'Shaquie Foster. He's got some losses on his record but he's fought some stiff competition. Those are the types of guys we always get here.

"We've had Orlando Gonzalez on our air before, he was in a super exciting fight. He had an incredible fight with Cesena last time out. He's looking to keep that momentum going. He is going to be a third time ProBox participant, which I tip my hat to. Any fighter that fights more than once on ProBox is tough because our fights are really tough. There are no easy fights on our air. Anyone who comes knows they are stepping into the meat grinder. Gonzalez is willing to do it again and he's got a stiff challenge in front of him. Looking at records you are going to lean towards Gonzalez, but don't sleep on a guy like Castaneda. He's coming off a win, knocking out an undefeated opponent in his last fight which he rebounded from a first round knockout loss. He's a live dog, he's got a lot to prove. Both these guys do.”

Jimmy Kelly Jr Ready To Push Towards Janibek And Middleweight Names

Press Release: November 14, 2023 By ProBox TV-  World title challenger Jimmy Kelly Jr is ready to push on to the big names at middleweight as he returns to the ring this Wednesday night on ProBox TV.

Credit: ProBox TV

Kelly Jr gave an insight into his year-ending ten-rounder against fellow world title challenger Juan Jose Velasco.

The Manchester native said, “I’m glad to be back on ProBox TV and ready to put on an explosive performance like people haven’t seen before.

“I’ve got different elements to my game. I can come forward and fight. I showed that against Jaime Munguia. I went in there and banged with a banger, and I’ll do it again if I have to.

“I’m planning on showing I’m excited and that I can compete with the best at middleweight. People around me know that I’m going to show it to everybody watching on Wednesday night.”

Kelly Jr has repeatedly called out unified middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly, however, the Mancunian outlined his hopes for 2024.

The middleweight contender stated, “I’ve been calling Janibek out for years now. I’m more well-known in Kazakhstan than anybody he’s fought. I beat Kanat Islam and got ignored, but it is what it is. I can’t make him fight me. I’m happy to jump in with another Kazak if it means forcing a fight with Janibek.

“The likes of Elijah Garcia are on my radar, I’ll fight all of those types of guys. I’ve beaten undefeated hyped-up fighters before and I’ll do it again if it means getting to a world middleweight title fight in 2024. That’s what I want.”

WATCH JIMMY KELLY JR LIVE THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT ON PROBOX TV LIVE FROM 7.30PM EST

Late Result: Cano Stop Ochoa

Press Release October 7, 2023 By ProBox TV -  Pablo Cesar Cano scored a sixth round stoppage victory over Zachary Ochoa to celebrate his 34th birthday on October 4th on ProBox TV’s Wednesday Night Fights from Plant City, Florida.

Credit: ProBox TV

The multiple world title challenger has led a distinguished career to date, sharing the ring with the likes of Shane Mosley, Erik Morales and ProBox TV commentator Paulie Malignaggi, with his record improving to 35-8-1 (25 KOs) yesterday evening. Ochoa picks up a third consecutive defeat after a gutsy display in the Sunshine State, his record moves to 21-4 (7 KOs) after a second career knockout defeat.

It was far than a perfect start for Cano picking up a bad cut in the second round. However, Cano applied pressure just seconds later, Ochoa having to defend a gluttony of shots to survive a round that could have easily seen the fight stopped.

Ochoa was in trouble again in the third round from a left hook to the head, going immediately into defense mode. However, Cano was struggling with the steady flow of blood flowing from his eyebrow as he began to wear as the round came to an end.

In round four Ochoa got behind his jab to sway the fight towards his preferred rhythm. In round five he took full control looking as the likely winner by this stage. Cano had other plans going into round six. Ochoa was down on the canvas after a good combination from Cano, it was admirable that he made it to his feet considering the manner in which he fell down. The Puerto Rican came under fierce attack against the ropes with zero reply. The referee waved off the contest as Cano was swinging away.

Undercard

Jose Nunez defeated Omar Salcido over the ten round distance in the evening’s chief support. Salcido picked up his first defeat in the all undefeated clash in a fight the Mexican struggled to find his range. A Fight of the Year contender saw both men hit the canvas where the judges scored wide to Nunez. Scores of 98-89, 98-87 and 95-90 saw Nunez improve his record to 16-0-2 (7 KOs). Salcido goes home with a career first defeat to his name, his record moves to 17-1 (12 KOs).

Jose Arellano defeated Oscar Alvarez to hand the young Mexican a second straight defeat and Trevor Thomson defeated Willie Shaw, both won by unanimous-decision victory.

Wednesday Night Fights returns in less than two weeks with Brandon Glanton taking on Carlos Fromenta in the cruiserweight division on October 18.

Press Release October 3, 2023 By ProBox TV -  ProBox TV’s flagship broadcast Wednesday Night Fights returns this Wednesday.

Credit: ProBox TV

The Mexican veteran has shared the ring with the likes of Paulie Mailgnaggi, Shane Mosley and Erik Morales. His standout career win came against multiple world champion Jorge Linares, scoring a first round knockout win at Madison Square Garden in 2019. Mexico’s Omar Salcido Gamez (17-0, 12 KOs) squares off with Panama’s Jose Nunez (15-0-2, 7 KOs) in an all undefeated clash over 10 rounds. Gamez makes his American debut next Wednesday night on ProBox TV in fine form with four knockouts in his last four fights. Nunez picked up a wide points win in his last outing against Jose Manuel Perez two months ago in Costa Rica. His last and first American appearance ended in a draw with Aram Avagyan in 2021.

Oscar Alvarez (9-1, 7 KOs) will take on fellow Mexican Jose Arellano (10-1, 6 KOs) at super featherweight. Both men look to get back to winning ways after both suffering career first losses in the 8 round bout.

RADIVOJE KALAJDZIC: REGRETS ‘SLOPPY’ PERFORMANCES AGAINST BETERBIEV AND BROWNE AHEAD OF TRIP TO PLANT CITY

Press Release September 6, 2023 By ProBox TV -

‘Hot Rod’ Radivoje Kalajdzic (27-2 19 KOs) makes his debut on this week’s edition of Wednesday Night Fights in Plant City, his first appearance of the year as he faces Englishman Mickey Ellison (14-4 5 KOs) over 10 rounds. The two will meet at Light heavyweight as the headline of the evening.

Born in old Yugoslavia, Kalajdzic came to the U.S. when he was 7 years old due to the Bosnian War, settling in St. Petersburg, Florida where he found his love for the sport. “I went to the gym and I fell in love with it” ‘Hot Rod’ declared in an exclusive interview with Probox TV when asked about the influence of boxing in his youth. “My Dad loved watching Mike Tyson, he’s one of my favourite fighters. I grew up watching him.”

Now with over 12 years experience as a professional and high knockout ratio, ‘Hot Rod’ is acquainted with being in the spotlight, fighting on big events over the course of his career. From receiving a controversial split decision against Marcus Browne, to challenging Artur Beterbiev for the IBF World Title, Kalajdzic has earned his stripes and respect as a serious contender through his ascendance in the division.

Despite reaching world level competition, Kalajdzic critiqued himself on his past performances ahead of his showdown this week. “I’m not the same fighter that fought Marcus Browne and [Artur] Beterbiev” affirmed ‘Hot Rod’ “Those fights were sloppy, I was just swinging, you’ll see a whole new ‘Rod', picking my shots, staying calm, and not being wild”

Giving his prediction ahead of time, Kalajdzic concisely confirmed for his Florida fans “Knockout. He comes forward. I come forward. It’s a 10 round fight, a long fight. Someone’s getting knocked out”.

His opponent responded in a similar manner when asked what we should expect ahead of his bout with ‘Hot Rod’; “Blistering” Ellison added “Coming away from home, it gives you that bit of extra spite. I’m not coming to play around, I’m coming here to win”

As the date approaches for the midweek action, one can only expect fireworks as two hungry fighters clash for recognition and ascendancy.

Sampson Lewkowicz and Carlos Andres Tello return to ProBox TV next Saturday following a successful event last month in Montevideo, Uruguay that saw Amilcar Vidal Jr. get back to winning ways against Domicio Rondon.  The South American promoters keep the show on the road in neighbouring Argentina as ProBox TV continues to provide subscribers with more international content.

Lewkowicz and Tello head to Argentina’s second largest city of Cordoba to bring you three highly competitive televised fights from the 5-star Quorum Cordoba Hotel on August 26. The evening’s main-event will see Sebastian Horacio Papeschi and Diego Carmona square-off for the vacant IBF Latino middleweight title over 10 rounds.

Papeschi (19-4, 7 KOs) comes off an emphatic 8th round knockout victory over Jairo Ariel Rayman for the South American light heavyweight title. The all-action fighter from Buenos Aires was previously stopped on a trip to Kazakhstan suffering a 5th round knockout loss to Meiirim Nursultanov last June.

Mexico’s Carmona (13-1, 11 KOs) is on an impressive six fight knockout streak, his most recent victims were Addir Sanchez in Panama and Alberto Mosquera in his native Mexico. The bout sees two southpaws collide with rankings places at stake at 160 pounds.

“Both fighters like to come forward, it is a real 50/50 fight that one.” Lewkowicz said of his upcoming main-event. “Papeschi does not have the biggest punch but will come forward all night. Carmona is like all Mexican’s, he will be coming to look for a fight.”

Quiroga (5-1, 2 KOs) represented Argentina at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games turning professional shortly after. The man from Mendoza picked up a WBA regional belt against the undefeated Afolabi Shittu with a wide points victory in Buenos Aires less than two months ago.

Press Release August 15, 2023 By ProBox TV- ProBox TV’s Wednesday Night Fights is back again next week fresh off a big result for Otar Eranosyan, who overcame a knockdown to take out former world champion Roger Gutierrez last week in Plant City to claim the WBA mandatory position for Hector Luis Garcia’s world title.

Credit: ProBox TV

August 23 sees the midweek promotion return with an undefeated 10 round clash at super welterweight. Dominican Raul Garcia will collide with Mexican born Leonardo Ruiz in the evening’s main event in Plant City, Florida.

Garcia (13-0-1, 11 KOs) comes off an impressive 2nd round knockout victory over Angel Yomar Mateo Arias in his native Dominican Republic just six weeks ago. The bout with Ruiz marks his second fight in the US having shared the spoils with the undefeated Robert Terry in a split decision draw in California this past April. Ruiz (12-0, 8 KOs) also comes off a stoppage victory, picking up a 5th round knockout against Esau Herrera de la Cruz in Pomona four months ago.

The evening’s chief support will see ProBox TV new signing Justin Pauldo collide with Uruguayan Eduardo Estela over 10 rounds in the lightweight division.

Pauldo (15-1, 7 KOs) is undefeated in 8 years, signing with ProBox TV two months ago under manager Jolene Mizzone. The 28 year old American comes off a unanimous decision win over Yeifer Valencia in Atlantic City last November having previously defeated Josec Ruiz by the same method in Los Angeles.

Estela (14-2, 9 KOs) looks to get back to winning ways after a 7th round knockout defeat to Angel Fierro in Mexico five months ago. The 33 year old from Montevideo had previously gone four fights unbeaten, the last of those victories coming against the undefeated Ruben Torres in Carson, California.

The televised undercard will also see Venezuelan knockout artist Johan Gonzalez (32-2, 32 KOs) take on Luis Eduardo Florez (26-28, 21 KOs) at super welterweight over 8 rounds. De Von Williams (2-0, 2 KOs) locks horns with Jared Tallent (1-2) at welterweight to kick off the televised card.

OTAR ERANOSYAN DISPATCHES OF ROGER GUTIERREZ TO CLAIM WBA MANDATORY POSITION

Press Release August 9, 2023 By ProBox TV- Wednesday Night Fights returned to Plant City, Florida last night with a super featherweight contest between slick Georgian Otar Eranosyan and former Venezuelan world champion Roger Gutierrez.

Credit: ProBox TV

The pair collided in a WBA world title eliminator on ProBox TV’s 12 round main event. The winner would move themselves in line for champion Hector Luis Garcia, who Gutierrez lost his title to last year.

The midweek action did not disappoint with both men hitting the canvas in an all action encounter. Eranosyan started the 1st round with his typical good footwork and varying combinations giving Gutierrez a lot to consider.

Gutierrez changed course quickly, returning at the beginning of the 2nd round with a renewed vigour. He came out swinging in the opening seconds of the round, catching Eransoyan with a right hand that sent him to the canvass. The Georgian was up on his feet immediately, but heavy pressure from Gutierrez nearly spelled an early night for his opponent. The Venezuelan came forward with long hard right hands and big left hooks that caught Eranosyan flush on many occasions. Eransoyan recovered after a minute slowing the pace, managing to arguably steal the rest of the round after a difficult opening 60 seconds, nonetheless the round went 10-8 to Gutierrez.

The slip up from Eransoyan proved to be a turning point in the fight, the decorated Georgian amateur took control from the 3rd round onwards despite some moments of danger from Gutierrez. Eransoyan got on the front foot not giving his taller rangier opponent a chance to plant himself when coming forward with the big shots that proved near fatal in the 2nd. Eransoyan’s pressure was relentless landing jabs, uppercuts and left hooks. However, he was caught with a dangerous right hand midway through the round.

By the 7th Gutierrez was looking evermore fatigued as Eranosyan’s pitbull style saw him land two big body shots in the opening minute of the round. The pair traded, with Eransoyan, again, coming out the better landing two shots to the head, a thudding left jab followed. Eranosyan could smell the end was near, exhibiting Roy Jones Jr. inspired tricks as he went after his depleting adversary.

Gutierrez was deducted a point for holding midway through the 8th. As the round closed out Eranosyan had his man pinned to the ropes and let loose a gluttony of shots to the head and body sending the Venezuelan to the canvass with 18 seconds to spare. Up on the 9 count, Eranosyan was back on him, landing more big shots. As the round ended there was some confusion as it appeared Gutierrez’s team were about to throw in the towel. After far too long a look from the doctor, the fight was declared over in-between rounds with Gutierrez in no state to continue.

Eranosyan improves to 14-0 (7 KOs) finding himself in the mandatory position for the WBA super featherweight world title, Gutierrez moves to 27-5-1 (21 KOs).

In the evening’s chief support saw Petros Ananyan come back from behind, down on the scorecards to knockout Cristian Baez (19-3, 17 KOs) in the 7th round of their super lightweight bout.

OTAR ERANOSYAN LOCKS HORNS WITH ROGER GUTIERREZ IN WBA ELIMINATOR, AUGUST 9

Press Release August 2, 2023 By ProBox TV- ProBox TV’s Wednesday Night Fights is back again next week hot off the heels from the barnburner we saw between Orlando Gonzalez and Ramiro Cesena in Kissimmee, Florida.

Credit: ProBox TV

The popular midweek boxing series heads back to Plant City, Florida with Otar Eranosyan and Roger Gutierrez colliding in a WBA super featherweight world title eliminator in the evening’s 12 round main event.

Eranosyan (13-0, 6 KOs) comes off back-to-back victories on the network defeating Cesar Juarez and, most recently, Edy Valencia Mercado leading to the Georgian’s lofty position in the WBA rankings.

Gutierrez (27-4-1, 21 KOs) comes off a knockout win over Henry Delgado in his native Venezuela in March having previously lost his WBA super featherweight world title to now champion, Hector Luis Garcia. He ripped the title from Rene Alvarado in a unanimous decision victory over two years ago. He would go on to achieve the same result in the rematch seven months later.

“Our last event in Kissimmee was a great example of what ProBox TV plans to bring to boxing fans.” ProBox TV Executive Director Chris Glover said. “Obviously we have missed the target a little over the last few months in terms of what we believe Wednesday Night Fights is really capable of, but we made some adjustments and we are in a good place to deliver for our viewers. Hats off to Orlando and Ramiro, they really gave it everything. I actually thought Cesena did enough to win, but it was a great fight.

“We have Otar back on the channel next week in a WBA world title eliminator against a former world champion. The winner has a chance to fight for a world title where the champion is beatable. It puts a lot on the line for both fighters which should produce another great fight for the network.”

The night’s chief support will see Venezuela’s Cristian Baez (19-2, 17 KOs) take on Armenia’s Petros Ananyan (17-3-2, 8 KOs) in a 10 round contest at super lightweight.

Lester Martinez Hoping Win Against Lucas de Abreu will Propel him to Become Guatemala’s 1st World Champion

Press Release July 12, 2023 By ProBox TV - Super middleweight contender Lester Martinez has represented his native Guatemala with distinction as an amateur winning 5 Gold medals throughout the Central American Games, Central American and Caribbean Games and Central American Championships.

Credit: ProBox TV

Turning pro in 2019, life on the professional circuit has started perfectly for the 27 year old trained by Brian ‘Bo Mac’ McIntyre accumulating a healthy record of 15-0 (13 KOs) to date. Oddly enough he started his pro campaign with a 2nd round knockout victory over the legendary Ricardo Mayorga in his nation’s capital, Guatemala City.

On Wednesday night Martinez locks horns with Brazil’s Lucas de Abreu on ProBox TV’s Wednesday Night Fights co-main event in a 10 round duel. A fight that Martinez hopes will propel him to become his country’s first world champion.

“I won Gold medals in the Central American and Caribbean, this is something that has not been done in 68 years in Guatemala.” Martinez said. “I would like to thank ProBox TV for this opportunity, I’m looking to impress people on this show and show boxing fans what I am capable of. I plan to become Guatemala’s first ever world champion in boxing, it has been something my country has never achieved. However, the sport is growing little-by-little back at home and I plan to carry the flag for Guatemala in the professional system much like I did in the amateurs.”

Martinez is managed by the well renowned Richard Steele and trained by the highly regarded Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre. Abreu, who stands in his way, comes off successive points defeats to Darrelle Valsaint and Ernesbadi Begue. His record currently stands at 14-3 (11 KOs).

“I know Lucas de Abreu will be very tough.” Martinez added. “He is very experienced and has a good record, I’m expecting a good fight and a tough test. He did well in the amateurs too, I’m hoping the fans enjoy seeing me fight.”

JIMMY KELLY THROWS HIS NAME INTO THE HAT FOR GOLOVKIN HOMECOMING

Press Release: July 6,, 2023 By ProBox TV -  England’s Jimmy Kelly has somewhat reinvented himself in recent years. The Manchester based middleweight has ventured to American shores since his collaboration with ProBox TV last year.

Kelly (27-3, 10 KOs) upset the odds defeating Kazakhstan’s Kanat Islam last year in Plant City. He has since tasted defeat at the hand of Jaime Munguia but got back to winning ways with a victory over Edward Ulloa Diaz in February.

Credit: ProBox TV

With a 100 percent win record against Kazakh fighters, Kelly has thrown his name into the hat for a potential homecoming fight with Gennadiy Golovkin.

“I think my name should be in the hat for that fight.” Kelly said. “I beat Kanat Islam, a popular fighter from Kazakhstan. From what I can gather my name is well known over there due to that fight, and I just think I’m in the conversation. It excites me.

“He is arguably one of the best ever 160 pound fighters. He has had so many title defenses. If you were going to fight Golovkin, now probably would be the right time but it is still an incredible task to defeat a man like him. If it made sense and he wanted to have a homecoming fight over there, what an honour it would be to share the ring with him. I wouldn’t be going over there in awe of him, I’ve shown before that I’m willing to go anywhere in the world and give it a good go. I’ve upset the odds before, no reason why I can’t do it again. I was winning against Munguia until I got caught. I’ve boxed in Australia, I’ve boxed in California, boxed in Florida and even Kuwait. I’ve been all around the world, and I can’t find my baby.”

Kelly has been campaigning around the middleweight limit in recent fights, but was in no mood to worry over significant details in a proposed bout with Golovkin.

“I’ll leave the weight to him.” Kelly added. “I think he has earned the right to do it at 160 or 168, completely up to him. It doesn’t make that much difference in my head. I boxed at 165 against Munguia and I only had four weeks notice. I believe I have the character to go and win on the road, a lot of people don’t."
