Former World Champion Alfredo Angulo Signs With BKB Bareknuckle Boxing

Press Release: April 7, 2026 By BKB Bareknuckle Boxing - Angulo scheduled to make his Bare Knuckle Boxing Debut July 18 at BKB 56 in Los Angeles.

Credit: BKB Bareknuckle Boxing

MIAMI, FL – BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing is proud to announce the signing of former world champion and fan-favorite warrior Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo (26-8, 21 KOs) to a multi-fight deal, adding another proven elite striker to its rapidly growing roster.

A relentless pressure fighter known for his toughness and all-action style, Angulo brings decades of high-level experience to BKB. The Mexicali, Baja California native built a decorated professional boxing career that included capturing the WBO Interim Light Middleweight Championship (2009–2010), along with regional titles such as the WBC Continental Americas Super Welterweight and WBO Inter-Continental Super Welterweight belts.

Before turning professional in 2005, Angulo compiled nearly 100 amateur bouts, highlighted by a victory over future world champion Timothy Bradley. He also represented Mexico on the international stage, earning medals at the 2002 Central American and Caribbean Games and the 2003 Pan American Games, before competing in the 2004 Olympic Games.

Throughout his career, Angulo faced a who’s-who of elite competition, including Canelo Alvarez, Erislandy Lara, Kermit Cintrón, Sergio Mora, and others, earning a reputation as one of boxing’s most fearless and entertaining fighters. His aggressive style and durability have already proven to be a natural fit for bare knuckle.

“This is a huge signing for BKB,” said BKB CEO David Tetreault. “Alfredo Angulo is the definition of a warrior. Fans know exactly what they’re going to get every time he steps into the ring—heart, pressure, and nonstop action. He’s built for bare knuckle, and we’re excited to showcase him on the BKB stage.”

Angulo’s journey has been marked by resilience as much as success. A highly publicized visa dispute in 2012 saw him detained for eight months, a challenge he overcame with perspective and gratitude—famously donating his hair to Locks of Love during that time to support children battling cancer.

“I’ve fought the best in the world, and I’m still hungry,” said Angulo. “Bare knuckle brings out a different kind of fighter, and that’s who I am. I’m ready to give the fans exciting fights and show them that ‘El Perro’ still has a lot left.”

Widely regarded as one of the most exciting Mexican fighters of his era, Angulo now looks to carve out a new legacy in bare knuckle boxing under the BKB banner. Angulo is expected to make his BKB debut July 18 at BKB 56 in Los Angeles

From its origins in 2015 as BYB Extreme Fighting Series, founded by MMA pioneer Dhafir "Dada 5000" Harris and Mike Vazquez, BKB has transformed bare knuckle boxing into a regulated, globally broadcast powerhouse through strategic acquisitions—including the original UK-based BKB in 2024 and Bad To The Bone in 2025—and a fighter-first philosophy that emphasizes athlete welfare and opportunity. Landmark broadcast partnerships with talkSPORT (UK and Ireland), VICE (US and Canada), and Telemundo (Spanish-language in the US) have delivered live events to millions worldwide.

Bellator/PFL veteran Lee Chadwick put BKB on notice after his impressive first-round knockout in his bare knuckle debut against Rob Boardman.

In a battle of Welsh heavyweights, up-and-coming Troy Palmer defeated gloved and bare knuckle veteran Dorian Darch by third-round knockout.

Credit: BKB

Press Release: December 6, 2025 By BKB: Bareknuckle Boxing - BKB 51 will be headlined by “The Emperor of Bare Knuckle” Marko Martinjak defending his BKB Bridgerweight Championship against former BKB Heavyweight Champion “Hurricane” Ike Villanueva.

LONDON, ENGLAND – BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing announced today its return to the indigo at the O2 for BKB 51, on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

Said BKB CEO David Tetreault: “BKB is proud to announce its return home to the iconic indigo at the O2. This past year, with our partnership with talkSPORT and our expansion to all corners of the UK, BKB has solidified itself as the top promotion in the country. It's only fitting that we kick off our 2026 European calendar year in London with a return to the indigo where our company has sold out dozens of shows over the past decade.”

Headlining the card will be the first Bridgerweight title defense of Zagreb, Croatia’s 12-2 Marko Martinjak. This past October in Leeds, UK, the then Cruiserweight Champion Martinjak defeated Dan Podmore to win the Bridgerweight title and become BKB’s second two-division world champion. Shortly thereafter, Martinjak relinquished the Super Cruiserweight belt to concentrate on the Bridgerweight division.

His opponent Ike VIllanueva (Houston, Texas, USA) is the 5-2 former BKB Heavyweight Champion. Villanueva, a former UFC veteran, was successful in his initial Bridgerweight matchup this past November against former Martinjak trilogy foe Jarome Hatch

Said Villanueva: “Kovacs, Fish, Linderman, Olsen, Hatch. I’ve built my BKB resume knocking out big, bald-headed white guys like Marko. I can’t wait to add Emperor to that list.”

Said Martinjak: “Train hard and eat well, Ike. Because on February 21st, hell will be unleashed.”

In the past two years, BKB (originally BYB) has purchased the UK-based BKB, the world’s oldest professional bare knuckle boxing company, and in doing so merged the organizations to create the largest bare knuckle boxing company in the world in terms of roster, library and distribution; ushered in ethical and legalized gambling to the sport; acquired the rights to the historic and prestigious Police Gazette Diamond Belt which now serves as the Bare Knuckle Boxing World Championship; and brought bare knuckle boxing to lineal television on both sides of the Atlantic, including the recent deal with VICE TV and Telemundo Deportes in the US, and in the UK with talkSPORT.

BKB And Bally's Announce Launch Of BKB Bally's Fight Night Series

Credit: BKB Bareknuckle Boxing

Press Release: November 20, 2025 By BKB Bareknuckle Boxing - Miami, FL, 19th November 2025 – Bally’s Corporation and BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing today (November 18th) unveiled Bally’s Fightnight by BKB, a fully integrated 360 partnership that unites Bally’s proprietary sensor technology, Bally’s owned casino venues, and exclusive broadcast distribution into a single, seamless combat entertainment ecosystem. The franchise debuts Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi, where advanced sensors embedded in fighter wrist wraps will capture punch volume, punch type, and force of impact in real time, delivering a gamified experience to fans both inside the arena and across Bally’s digital platforms, including the Bally Sports Live apps and Stadium free ad-supported TV (FAST) channel.

The concept originated in 2021 through a pilot led by BKB CEO David Tetreault and Bally’s Chairman Soo Kim under Oscar De La Hoya’s KO Entertainment. Now realized as a complete 360 activation, the partnership leverages bare knuckle boxing’s glove-free format - the cleanest and most measurable striking discipline in combat sports - as the ideal proving ground for Bally’s proprietary sensor system. Every punch becomes quantifiable data, instantly transforming elite bouts into interactive, data-driven spectacles.

David Tetreault, CEO of BKB Bare Knuckle, said: “Four years ago Soo Kim and I dreamed of building the most data-backed combat sport on earth. Today, with Bally’s, that dream becomes Bally’s Fightnight by BKB. Bare knuckles give us the cleanest data possible; Bally’s gives us the platform to make that data entertaining, interactive, and profitable for fans everywhere.”

The sensor platform powers an enhanced storytelling experience with data-enriched broadcast graphics and immersive second-screen experience accessible via the Bally Sports Live mobile apps and Stadium FAST channel. Fans will receive live punch metrics including volume, velocity, and impact force; real-time leaderboards; predictive betting; fantasy-style scoring; heat maps; punch-type breakdowns; and fighter power rankings. The same data stream enhances the in-venue atmosphere through integrated arena displays, creating a unified experience from ringside to remote viewing.

Soo Kim, Chairman of Bally’s, said: “Bally’s has always been about creating experiences you can’t get anywhere else. Combining Bare Knuckle Boxing’s raw intensity with proprietary sensor technology and then scaling it globally, including our newly acquired properties in the UK and Australia, is exactly why we’ve built the Bally’s ecosystem the way we have.”

Jon Lin, SVP and GM of Bally’s Media, said: “For the first time ever, fans in our venues and watching at home will share the exact same live data feed; punch speed, force, volume, everything. It’s like having a second screen built into the fight itself. This is the most immersive combat sports broadcast we’ve ever produced.”

The partnership launches with a multi-event schedule staged exclusively inside Bally’s-owned properties, beginning with Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi and expanding to additional Bally’s destinations nationwide. All production, distribution, and fan engagement flow through Bally’s integrated digital ecosystem, ensuring seamless access for in-venue and remote audiences alike.

The debut card, Bally’s Fightnight by BKB: Biloxi, takes place on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi, Mississippi, with doors opening at 6:00 PM CT and first bell at 7:00 PM CT. The event will be broadcast exclusively on the Bally Sports Live app and Stadium channel. Tickets are available now at bkbtickets.com/ballysbiloxi. Fighter lineup will be announced in the coming weeks.

Dodge Center in Pembroke Pines for BKB 48 Brawl in the Pines V, a card stacked with the best pound-for-pound bare knuckle fighters from around the world.

In the main event, undefeated Heavyweight champion Gustavo “The Cuban Assassin” Trujillo will face Bellator MMA and ONE Fighting Championship veteran and former King of the Cage champion Tony “Hulk” Johnson Jr. The 32-year-old Trujillo (Miami, Florida by way of Moron Ciego de Ávila, Cuba) has been unstoppable in the sport, boasting a 7-0 record with seven first-round knockouts, including stoppages over bare knuckle world champions Lorenzo Hunt, Ike Villanueva, and Richie Leak.

In the night’s co-main event, BoxRec’s #1 pound-for-pound bare knuckle fighter in the world LT "Smash" Nelson (Broken Arrow, Oklahoma by way of Petermeritzburg, South Africa) will once again face "The Welsh Wrecking Machine" Barrie Jones (Pontygwaith, Wales) in a rematch of their BYB 30 title fight in which Nelson finished Jones by third-round knockout. Coming into that fight, Jones boasted a perfect 10-0 (9 KOs) record. With the win, Nelson, who was the then-current BYB 2-division champion (Middleweight and Super Middleweight), took home Jones' BYB Police Gazette World Middleweight title, and cemented himself as one the best fighters in all of combat sports. Since that match, Jones has gone on to capture the BKB Light Heavyweight championship against Gregoris Cisneros and is currently ranked the pound-for-pound #5 bare knuckle fighter in the world.

The third title fight on the card will pit BKB Lightweight champion Jarod “Kid Gatti” Grant (Hollywood, Florida) against #1 contender Jon “Untameable” Barnard (Makaha, Hawaii). BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing and Telemundo Strike Multi-Fight Deal to Broadcast Live Bare Knuckle Boxing

Press Release: August 26, 2025 By BKB Bareknuckle Boxing -MIAMI, FLORIDA – BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing CEO David Tetreault announced today that the Miami-based and Hispanic-owned company has signed a multi-fight partnership with Telemundo, a division of NBCUniversal, to air the company’s live Spanish-language broadcast on the recently-launched Telemundo Deportes Ahora. The partnership kicked off this live from Denver at August 16’s BKB 44 Denver Brawl V, headlined by Mexico’s Paty Juarez successfully defending her BKB Lightweight championship in a rematch with Khortni Kamyron. The partnership announcement comes on the heels of BKB’s recent exclusive deal to broadcast live in the UK and Ireland on News UK’s talkSPORT, and months after announcing a deal with VICE to carry the [English language] shows in the US and Canada.  Said BKB Chairman Mike Vazquez, “For years, BKB has grown and sustained a loyal audience of Spanishspeaking fight fans throughout the US and in Latin and South America, as evidenced by our online viewership, brand partnerships and the fans who attend our live shows.  We have worked diligently to build a global product, at the heart of which is our Spanish broadcast. We have built a library of past events led by acclaimed play-by-play announcer Claudia Trejos and color commentator Benny Ricardo, along with the respected likes of Ricardo Celis and Rodolfo Roman. Now, having a massive platform like Telemundo broadcast our live events is a natural and overdue evolution of our company and the overall sport of bare knuckle boxing.”   Said Tetreault, “The growth, ratings success and mainstream acceptance of bare knuckle boxing has made BKB a hot property as outlets vie for live sports to attract the coveted male 18-54-year-old demographic. Fight fans have grown weary of long, boring boxing matches and ground-centric MMA fights. BKB is built for the modern era with high-intensity matches and fast-paced action. Broadcasters and sponsors have finally begun to recognized that.” He added, “Mike and I look forward to moving the partnership forward and are excited to join the NBCUniversal team this week at their LA Upfronts.” “Telemundo Deportes Ahora was built to deliver high-energy, culturally relevant sports content for today’s digitally driven Hispanic audiences. Partnering with BKB allows us to expand that promise by offering an electrifying, fast-paced combat sport that’s capturing the attention of a new generation of fans,” said Joaquín Duro, Executive Vice President of Sports, Telemundo. “We’re excited to elevate BKB as a key content pillar on our new 24/7 FAST channel, and to continue pushing the boundaries of what sports storytelling looks like for the Latino community.” In the past two years, BKB (originally BYB) has purchased the UK-based BKB, the world’s oldest professional bare knuckle boxing company, and in doing so merged the organizations to create the largest bare knuckle boxing company in the world in terms of roster, library and distribution; ushered in ethical and legalized gambling to the sport; acquired the rights to the historic and prestigious Police Gazette Diamond Belt which now serves as the Bare Knuckle Boxing World Championship; and brought live bare knuckle boxing to lineal television.  For more information visit bkbbareknuckle.com and follow us on social @bkbbareknuckle. Former Two-Division World Champion Boxer Paulie Malignaggi Signs Three Fight Deal With BKB Bareknuckle Boxing

Credit: BKB Bareknuckle Boxing

Press Release: June 17, 2025 By BKB Bareknuckle Boxing - Miami, Florida - Former IBF junior welterweight and WBA welterweight champion Paulie “Magic Man” Malignaggi announced today his return to fighting, signing a three-fight deal with BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing in hopes of becoming a 2-sport world champion and adding the historic Police Gazette Diamond Belt to his collection.

Malignaggi, who has served as BKB’s color commentator and lead analyst since 2021, will fight in the BKB Super Welterweight division and is slated to return to action and make his Trigon debut at BKB 45 on September 6 in Bristol, England.

Malignaggi, born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Sicily, holds a professional boxing record of 36-8 and has fought some of the biggest names in the sport including Miguel Cotto, Shawn Porter, Adrian Broner, Ricky Hatton and Zab Judah.

He notes that while it would be easy to leverage his name for an immediate shot at a BKB Bare Knuckle title (currently held by Wales’ Liam Rees), his desire is to first fight a contender and work his way to a shot at the title rather than leapfrogging fighters who have put in their time into the sport.

Said Malignaggi, “ I could easily use my position to jump right back into a title fight. But you know what? That's not what I'm going to do. I respect the fighters too much. Here at BKB, there's really good contenders in the super welterweight division. I know that I when this announcement gets around to the contenders, they're all going to want a piece of me. I want to fight one of those top contenders and earn my spot. I don't want to jump the line.  I still got what got the goods and I'm chasing that title.”

BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing consists of 5 3-minute rounds (6x3 for title fights) and is fought in the patented triangular ring, the Mighty Trigon - the smallest fighting surface in combat sports. Malignaggi feels that both the Trigon and the number of rounds best suit him at this stage of his career, and that his experience will be advantageous to his success.

“Having sat ringside at BKB for three years, taking in these amazing fights, I'm always thinking, ‘These guys are impressive, but you know what? I think I can still do that.’ I used to fight 10, 12 rounds. I can still do 5 or 6 rounds.

“Ultimately, I want to prove something to myself.  I’m in the best shape I’ve been in in years, and being able to say I’ve been at the top of the game in two sports would just solidify my legacy in fighting. I don’t know who my first opponent will be yet, but I am confident that BKB will give me someone I can really test myself against.”

BKB’s next event will be this Saturday at 6 CT when Bare Knuckle Boxing makes its Tennessee debut at The Pinnacle in Nashville for BKB 42 Musich City Brawl. BKB then returns to the UK July 5 for BKB 43 in Bristol, England.  BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing airs live exclusively on VICE TV in the US and Canada and on talkSPORT in the UK and Ireland.  Visit bkbbareknuckle.com for tickets, information and all ways to watch.

Press Release: May 8, 2024 By BYB Extreme Bareknuckle Fighting Series - -

roster, library and global reach in the bare knuckle space.

Miami, Florida – BYB Extreme Bare Knuckle Fighting Series Owner and President Mike Vazquez

announced today that the company has acquired London-based BKB, the world’s first professional bare

knuckle boxing promotion, who has successfully promoted forty bare knuckle events which are broadcast

in over thirty-five different countries with millions of fans and viewers worldwide.

As bare knuckle continues to grow in popularity, and sponsorship of live programming in sports remain at

a premium, John Bryan, a pioneering leader with expertise in media distribution and with more than 20

“The future is now. Major consumer brands and mainstream broadcasters and streaming

inevitable impact on the market. BYB pioneered the sport and, having put together a

sustainable roadmap for both the organization and the sport’s international growth, BYB

has just accelerated this entire process by instantly increasing not only its live show output,

but also its sponsored content library.”

Formed in 2015 by Jim Freeman and Joe Smith-Brown, BKB regularly sells out the Liverpool Echo Arena

Both Freeman and Smith-Brown will stay with BYB in an executive capacity, as Freeman will continue to

handle day-to-day operations for BYB in Europe, and Smith-Brown will also stay on with BYB to oversee

continued European expansion.
