In the main event, Owen Corrigan maintained his undefeated record, defeating Paulo Ratumaikoro by split decision.

The card also showcased a wide variety of exciting fights and quick knockouts.

In the card’s headliner, Owen Corrigan defeated Paulo Ratumaikoro by split decision in his first-ever main event.

The win moves Corrigan’s unbeaten record to 7-0.

Coming off a career-best performance against Micah Rivetti, Ireland’s “Bomber” was originally slated to defend his newly won ANBF Australasian Light Heavyweight Title against Cole Smith.

However after Smith withdrew, he was replaced by Paulo Ratumaikoro and the fight took place one weight class above.

Despite the last-minute changes, Corrigan picked up the win in a hard-fought encounter.

Corrigan started the fight patiently, looking to control the range and dictate the pace through pressing the action. 

In an attempt to get inside, Ratumaikoro frequently looked to land the overhand right.

Following the advice from his corner, Corrigan began to utilise his jab more effectively in the third round.

However, whenever the Irishman looked to close the distance Ratumaikoro found success with the overhand as he continued to make the fight look ugly in the pocket.

By the fifth round, Corrigan had started to make reads on his opponent, using his pressure to smother Ratumaikoro against the ropes before the final bell.

When the scorecards were read, it was Corrigan who walked away with the split-decision victory.

Providing the valiant effort from Ratumaikoro, the fight highlighted Corrigan’s ability to adapt and problem solve.

With world renowned trainer Angelo Hyder by his side, the sky is the limit for the Irishman who continues to make his mark as a fighter to watch in the Perth boxing scene.

Michael Bazley vs Sheng Xu

In the co-main event, Michael Bazley defeated Sheng Xu via first-round KO.

Fresh off winning the WA State Heavyweight Championship back in May, “Big Bad” Michael Bazley stepped into the ring against Sheng Xu, his second international opponent.

Bazley delivered yet another stunning knockout to maintain his undefeated record.

The fight started with The Aussie controlling the range with his jab while applying effective forward pressure.

Xu, the much smaller fighter, had a difficult time getting inside. When he did, he was met with a flurry of punches that sent him crashing to the canvas.

The Chinese fighter failed to answer the count, giving Bazley yet another KO victory.

Joel Lewis vs Weifang Li

Earlier in the card, Joel Lewis defeated Weifang Li in their rematch, stopping him via first-round TKO.

The two men first met back in May, with the fight ending in a majority draw. This time around, Lewis finished Li early with a brutal finish.

Both men looked to establish their jab early, attempting to stamp their authority on the fight.

During an exchange in the pocket, Lewis rocked Li with a huge right hook that staggered him backwards. The former state champion followed up with a barrage of punches, dropping Li to the canvas.

Lewis, who displayed a much more patient approach, dropped his opponent two more times before the referee waved off the contest.

Dragon Fire Boxing promoter Tony Tolj is expecting fireworks when the iconic Thunderdome series returns to Metro City Arena this Friday, August 28, with Thunderdome 55 shaping up as one of the strongest cards of the year.

The event marks the 55th edition of Thunderdome and the third instalment of the series on Dragon Fire Boxing’s 2026 schedule, bringing together an explosive mix of undefeated fighters, rising prospects, seasoned veterans and hungry debutants.

Headlining the card is undefeated Irishman and new Dragon Fire Boxing signing Owen “Bomber” Corrigan (6-0), who steps up to Cruiserweight for the first time to face highly regarded Fijian Paulo Ratumaikoro.

Ratumaikoro is the type of opponent who welcomes a challenge and has built a reputation for taking on anyone willing to share the ring with him. The Fijian has already faced a number of respected opponents, including undefeated prospect Omar El-Abdallah, Kirra Ruston, Donald Jones and Benjamin Hussein.

For Corrigan, the fight represents another major step forward.

“Owen has gone through more than a dozen opponents who have committed and then pulled out,” Tolj said.

“He's got the right mentality. He basically said, ‘Just put me in that ring and I'll fight anyone.’

“He's now ranked No. 14 at Light Heavyweight in Australia, and I'm very pleased with the improvements he's made under Angelo Hyder and Tony Nobbs.

“Corrigan has caught the attention of fans with his aggression and power — and he's called ‘Bomber’ for a reason.”

The undefeated Irishman now faces perhaps his toughest test yet as he makes the move up in weight.

LETHAL LEWIS READY FOR REMATCH

One of Perth's most entertaining fighters, Joel “Lethal” Lewis, returns against China's Weifang Li in a highly anticipated rematch.

Lewis has built a reputation for being involved in action-packed contests, while Li will be determined to upset the Perth favourite and derail his momentum.

“Joel is always in an exciting fight,” Tolj said.

“His Chinese opponent is looking to test Joel and upset the apple cart. One thing about Chinese fighters is that you can never write them off.”

Lewis has been putting in the work behind the scenes and is determined to take his career to another level.

“He has the tools, and with the right discipline, this kid can go very far once he fully commits,” Tolj added.

“Joel wants the knockout. He doesn't want to leave it in the hands of the judges.”

BIG BAD BAZLEY CHASING THE KO BONUS

Michael “Big Bad” Bazley is quickly developing a cult following in Perth and will look to continue his unbeaten start against tough Chinese opponent Sheng Xu.

Bazley enters the contest with a perfect 3-0 record and has made no secret of his intentions.

“He's vowed to take home the KO bonus,” Tolj said. “He's had three fights and three wins, and he wants to extend that streak.”

SABURI LOOKING TO BREAK INTO THE ELITE

Rising prospect Tanaka Saburi (3-1) faces China's Jingyang Chen (3-1) in what promises to be an intriguing clash between two evenly matched prospects.

Saburi has already broken into the Australian top 15 and sees Friday night as another opportunity to prove he belongs among the country's best.

“Both prospects are coming prepared to give everything they have and showcase who is the best prospect,” Tolj said.

“Saburi has cracked the top 15 in the national ratings and is looking to earn his stripes and eventually take on the elite Australian boxers.”

BIG BOSH BILLY LOOKING FOR REDEMPTION

Billy “Big Bosh” Quinncroft returns hungry to get back into the win column following his hard-fought battle with ANBF Australasian Champion Lewis Clarke in March.

Quinncroft now faces Theepakorn Pankasem in what Tolj describes as a redemption fight.

“Billy has left no stone unturned,” Tolj said. “He's looking to return to the winning column and show what he's capable of.”

DOOM FIST FACES TOUGH TEST

Fresh from an explosive knockout victory over former ONE Championship World Champion Suzuki, “Doom Fist” Manny Ritti returns to action against the durable Liang Wang.

Wang is no stranger to Corrigan, having taken the undefeated Irishman the distance on two occasions.

The question now is whether Ritti can become the first man to stop him.

“Can he stop Wang? We will see Friday night,” Tolj said.

JYE CHIN LOOKING TO CEMENT HIS RATING

CNS Fight Team's Jye Chin is another fighter making waves on the national scene.

Chin has recently entered the Australian rankings at No. 13 at Super Middleweight and will face Indonesia's Laurensius Lowa as he looks to strengthen his claim among the country's best.

“Jye has a very deceptive record,” Tolj said. “He's looking to let his hands fly and cement his claim as one of the best Super Middleweights in the country.”

The card also features Michelle Lynch vs Harma Yesti over four rounds, a contest Tolj believes could be a genuine fight-of-the-night candidate.

Perth fight fans are set for another explosive night of boxing when Dragon Fire Boxing brings the iconic Thunderdome series back to Metro City Arena on August 28.

Aussie #13-rated super-middleweight Jye Chin will return to the ring following a standout performance against fellow Australian contender Ryan Daye, carrying plenty of momentum into his latest challenge.

The 22-year-old prospect has built an impressive three-fight winning streak and now faces Indonesia’s Laurensius Lowa, with Chin determined to take another step towards the upper reaches of the division.

Despite his growing reputation, Chin isn't taking anything for granted.

“Don’t know much about my opponent. I don’t take anybody lightly, so I’m expecting a war regardless. I think he’ll bring pressure, and I’m ready to fight any kind of fight it turns into.”

That mentality has been reflected in Chin’s preparation, with the young contender putting in serious work ahead of fight night.

“Training has been great! Sparring nearly three times a week and I’m feeling very fit.”

Breaking into the Australian top 15 is already a significant achievement for the 22-year-old, but Chin insists he is nowhere near satisfied.

“To be in the top 15 is a privilege but also a testament to my hard work. I took the hard road and didn’t take an easy fight to achieve it. But it’s barely what I want. Top 5 by next year is the goal.”

Chin is also promising fans a memorable performance when he steps between the ropes on August 28.

“My message to my opponent is simply good luck. I’m not one for the talk, so hands will fly and one will be raised.”

And his prediction for the night is clear.

“Come down and watch the SHOW!! To the fans, I promise a performance and I promise a stoppage. Come down and support as it will be my last one this year.”

With a top-15 ranking already secured, a three-fight winning streak behind him and ambitions of breaking into the Australian top five, Jye Chin has plenty at stake at Thunderdome 55.

Bruno Tarimo Returns To Headline Dragon Fire Boxing's Next Event; BOXINGMANIA August 8th

Press Release: July 20, 2026 By  Dragon Fire Boxing - Tarimo (29-5-2, 8 KOs) soared into the super featherweight rankings after a string of upset victories over Aussie contenders Billy Dib, Joel Brunker, and Nathaniel May in 2019. Tarimo’s link-up with Aussie trainer Angelo Hyder and manager Tony Tolj saw him become a firm fixture on the Australian and world boxing scene.

Bruno was originally scheduled for a title fight in Fiji on February 7, but that fight date has been repeatedly changed. Tarimo is now headlining a WBA Oceania Featherweight Championship challenge against China Junlun Zhao 12-2

“It’s frustrating with the date constantly being changed, but I know my team (Dragon Fire Boxing) has done everything possible doing and has my best interests at heart. Andrew has become world champion again, and Jason Moloney has signed with Zuffa and I will become world champions from the gym.”

“I had nothing lined up after many date changes in Fiji and Dragon Fire Boxing has put on an event just for me to get me going and I will give everything I can in the ring to become a champion again”

Longtime manager Tony Tolj said: “We are planning a big 2026, where we can get him back in the rankings and challenge for a world title. He wants to campaign at featherweight; we believe he can compete there, and it’s his natural weight. He was fighting up at super featherweight, which wasn’t his weight. But during COVID times, they couldn’t get anyone into the country, so he jumped up. He just kept fighting Aussie after Aussie and kept beating everyone. He ended up getting into a position where he was fighting in a world title eliminator.

“He lives close to Jason and Andrew [Moloney], and young prospect Jesse Wicks is around there as well. They are all friends; Bruno is another extension of our boxing family. He will be a big help in Jason’s next fight on the Gold Coast on the Opetaia card, in Andrew’s IBF world title challenge next year, and in Bruno’s big year coming up. He’s been a big part of all the major camps we have had with the Moloneys. Takei had eight fights with eight knockouts at that point, but Bruno’s fight was stopped due to a cut. He’s world class, and 2026 is going to be a standout year for him.

“Bruno has evolved and gone to the next level and was the chief sparring partner for Jason in his IBF Intercontinental title fight victory. Bruno was preparing for his own title fight, but that got delayed.

“First thing I need to do is get him active, then back into the world ratings,” Tolj added. “Now we can get him into a position where he will fight for a world title. Now he is going to be settled, not worrying about his family, not detached from those he loves. I think he will have a good run now, and I’m really looking forward to seeing Bruno achieve all he can achieve.”

Owen Corrigan inks Multi-Year Managerial Agreement With Dragon Fire Boxing

Press Release: July 3, 2026 By Dragon Fire Boxing -  Fresh off capturing the ANBF Australasian Light Heavyweight Championship, Owen Corrigan has signed a new multi-year managerial agreement with DragonFire Promotions.

Having fought under the DragonFire banner since making his professional debut, the new deal represents a natural progression for Corrigan, who believes the promotion can help guide him towards bigger opportunities in the years ahead.

"I was delighted to be offered the deal,” Corrigan said. “With a managerial company like Dragon Fire, it just gives me a lot of hope for the future.” 

A key figure throughout Corrigan's career has been Dragon Fire Promotions boss and experienced promoter Tony Tolj.

Tolj has managed some of the country's best boxers such as Jason and Andrew Moloney, the latter claiming the IBF Super Flyweight Championship last month. The pair have developed a strong relationship both inside and outside the sport since The Irishman’s arrival.

"Since before my first fight, me and Tony have always had a good relationship," Corrigan said.

"We seemed to click straight away. I worked hard to sell tickets for my debut and Tony did everything he could to help push me."Now we've got a good relationship where I can go to him whenever I need advice, I'm very fortunate to have that."

In his last fight, Corrigan captured the ANBF Light Heavyweight Championship in a dominant fourth-round TKO victory over Micah Rivetti in their second meeting. The rematch carried added pressure after their first fight went the distance, but Corrigan delivered his most complete performance to date, stopping Rivetti in emphatic fashion.

Although he had respect for his opponent, Corrigan entered the contest with complete confidence in his preparation and knew he was ready to make a statement. The victory was particularly satisfying given the criticism that surfaced after the first encounter.

"It felt very relieving," Corrigan admitted. "When I was first offered the rematch, I was a little unsure because I'd gained a lot of respect for Micah after the first fight." "I knew where my mindset was at. No matter who I fought next, I felt like I was going to put on a demolition job," he said.

"People were talking online, to come through a hard training camp and then perform like that felt so satisfying."

The Rivetti rematch was also significant as it marked the first time Corrigan had legendary trainer Angelo Hyder in his corner.While improvements in his technique had already made an impact, Corrigan believes the biggest difference came from a change in mentality.

"I think the biggest [change I noticed in the Rivetti fight] was my mindset," Corrigan revealed. "The intensity throughout the whole fight was different."Normally, I'm trying to preserve my energy and pace myself. This time, I just wanted to go. “Between rounds I couldn't wait for the bell to ring so I could get back out there."

Training under Hyder has exposed Corrigan to a world-class environment, something he believes translated directly into his performance on fight night."When you're training with Angelo, you're around world champions and world-class fighters, you must be switched on all the time" Corrigan said.

"When we spar it's not just a training session, it’s trying to prove a point and that intensity carries over." "As soon as it finished and the intensity dropped, I remember thinking 'Yeah, that was different. That was better.'"

Now holding the ANBF Light Heavyweight Championship and with his future secured under the Dragon Fire banner, Corrigan appears to be entering an exciting stage of his career.

If his dominant performance against Rivetti is any indication, the newly crowned champion may only just be scratching the surface of his potential.

Thunderdome 54 Results: Bazley Shines With Stunning TKO Victory

In the main event, Michael Bazley defeated Ryan Williams to capture the WA State Heavyweight Championship in what was a blockbuster showdown. 

The card also saw rising prospects Owen Corrigan and Tanaka Saburi claim championship glory in impressive fashion.

Michael Bazley Wins State Championship in Devastating Fashion

In the headline bout of the evening, “Big Bad” Michael Bazley defeated Ryan Williams to become the new WA State Heavyweight Champion.

Since making his professional debut, Bazley has quickly made a name for himself on the Perth boxing scene with a string of destructive knockout victories. 

Those performances earned him his biggest opportunity yet, a fight for the state title against the experienced Ryan Williams.

The matchup was expected to be Bazley’s toughest test to date, but it was passed with flying colours after he secured a crushing second round TKO victory.

Williams started the fight aggressively, pressing forward early and backing his much taller opponent onto the ropes. Bazley responded well by landing a sharp punch that opened a cut above Williams’ left eye.

The fight dramatically shifted in the second round. As Williams continued to apply pressure, Bazley caught him with a perfectly timed right hand that sent him crashing to the canvas.

Williams beat the count and bravely continued to push forward, but the momentum had clearly swung in Bazley’s favour as he began landing the cleaner and heavier punches.

In the final minute of the round, Williams was caught by another barrage of shots before a flush left hook dropped him for the second time.

Although the veteran managed to get back to his feet, his corner threw in the towel moments later, giving Bazley the stoppage win along with the WA State Heavyweight Title.

The championship victory further highlights Bazley’s rapid progression in the sport since debuting less than a year ago.

Following the fight, Ryan Williams confirmed his retirement from boxing after previous speculation surrounding his future.

Owen Corrigan Defeats Micah Rivetti Again to Remain Undefeated

Earlier in the card, Ireland’s Owen Corrigan defeated Micah Rivetti to capture the ANBF Australasian Light Heavyweight Championship.

The two men first met back in March, when Corrigan earned a hard-fought split decision victory. 

Ahead of the rematch, Corrigan relocated to the East Coast to train under renowned coach Angelo Hyder. The move paid dividends as the Irishman delivered a dominant performance to secure his second professional title.

The fight began at a high pace, with both men looking to make an early statement. Rivetti attempted to close the distance, swinging aggressively in an effort to get inside.

Corrigan remained composed and found success with his timing and accuracy. In the second round, he landed a perfectly timed right cross that dropped The Aussie to the canvas.

Rivetti was able to answer the count but the gap in class started to show, as the undefeated Irishman completely took over the fight and relentlessly hunted the finish.

Corrigan controlled the range of the fight with straight punches before dropping his opponent again just before the round ended.

Further knockdowns followed on the visibly fatigued Rivetti in the third and fourth rounds, before a crushing body shot forced the referee to wave off the contest.

The win improves Corrigan’s professional record to 6-0 and earns him the ANBF Australasian Light Heavyweight Championship, adding a second title to his growing resume.

Tanaka Saburi Captures First State Championship

Rising prospect Tanaka Saburi claimed his first professional title with a stoppage victory over Bikash Rana for the WA State Light Welterweight Championship.

The contest began cautiously, with Saburi dictating the tempo of the fight by using his jab to keep his Nepalese opponent at bay.

Rana attempted to pressure forward and fight on the inside, but Saburi’s superior movement kept him out of danger.

As the fight progressed, Saburi began opening up offensively. In the third round, he repeatedly backed Rana onto the ropes while landing heavy body shots and sharp hooks.

As both fighters prepared for the fourth and final round, Rana’s corner surprisingly decided to stop the contest. 

Saburi was awarded the stoppage victory and the first championship of his professional career, while the loss for Rana marks his first defeat inside the distance.

With another composed and dominant performance under his belt, Tanaka Saburi continues to establish himself as one of Western Australia’s most promising talents.

In the main event, “Big Bad” Michael Bazley looks to win a WA State title in his third professional fight when he takes on Damien Johnson.

Before the heavyweight clash, Ireland’s Owen Corrigan looks to win his second championship of the year when he rematches Micah Rivetti for the ANBF Australasian Light Heavyweight Title.

Just one week removed from the biggest fight of his career so far, Corrigan is embracing the moment heading into his upcoming bout.

“It’s a privilege,” Corrigan said.

“I came to Australia with not really a whole lot behind me and to now say I’m the state champion and fighting for an Australasian title it’s something I’m very proud of. 

“It gives me a lot of motivation and it fuels me.”

Corrigan and Rivetti first met earlier this year for the WA State Light Heavyweight Championship, with the Irishman edging the split decision win.

Despite getting the victory in their first encounter, Corrigan admits he walked away from the performance unsatisfied.

“In terms of performance, I don’t think it was my greatest,” Corrigan revealed. 

“I’ve watched the fight back repeatedly since and although I believe I won every round, I don’t think I stamped my presence on the fight the way I should have.”

“[Rivetti is] nicknamed ‘mad dog’ for a reason, he’s fought everyone on short notice but now he’s had two full training camps to prepare for me. 

“I’m expecting the best Micah Rivetti to turn up and I’m expecting a hard fight.”

Corrigan understands the importance of leaving no doubt the second time around, by winning in a more decisive fashion.

“It would mean a lot to get the stoppage,” Corrigan said. 

“Of course I want to win the title, but I need people to know who Owen Corrigan is, this could be the coming out party that I need.”

In preparation, Corrigan made the decision to take his camp interstate, relocating to the Gold Coast to train under renowned coach Angelo Hyder alongside former world champions Andrew and Jason Moloney.

Corrigan says the experience has elevated both his mindset and his understanding of the sport.

“I knew going into the last fight that things in my camp just weren’t up to standard,” Corrigan admitted. 

“Angelo has trained multiple world champions and being around the Moloney twins has been unbelievable.”

“You learn so much being around that environment. You learn about boxing and about the business, it really opens your mind.

“As fighters we need to learn as much as we can when we can.”

Perhaps most surprising for Corrigan has been Hyder’s approach to refining his style rather than rebuilding it completely.

“I thought everything would be turned upside down,” Corrigan revealed.

“But Angelo has really looked at what I already do well and focused on bringing the best out of it. I suppose that was one of the biggest surprises.

“He sees me as a skilled boxer and we’ve just worked on sharpening everything. It’s been an all-round improvement.”

Now, with the ANBF Light Heavyweight Championship on the line, Corrigan believes fans will see a far more complete version of himself at Thunderdome 54.

If his words are anything to go by, he intends on making sure this rematch leaves absolutely no questions unanswered.

Thunderdome 54 will be headlined by “Big Bad” Michael Bayzley taking on veteran Ryan “The Pilgrim” Williams for the Western Australian Heavyweight Championship.

 

The fight was originally set to take place in November 2025 but after a horrific hand injury which William’s hand was crushed in his FIFO (Fly in Fly out) job the fight was put on hold.

 

Williams is now fully healed, and Bazley has set the Perth boxing scene alight with a string of impressive victories meriting the MAIN EVENT slot.
