Press Release: November 6, 2026 By Bob Triger Full Court Press -

KANSAS CITY, Kan.  (November 4, 2026) –

 Undefeated Mexican American rising star

Marco “Tiburón” Romero

(16-0, 14 KOs) is parlaying his explosive knockout on October 17

th

at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas into another high profile fight December 5

th

on the unified World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) Cruiserweight World Champion

David “El Monstro” Benavidez’

homecoming card against World Boxing Council (WBC) Cruiserweight World Champion

Michal Cieslak

on a PBC Pay-Per-View event to be available on DAZN through Prime Video from Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

Fighting out of Olathe, Kansas, Romero showed poise beyond his years in Las Vegas, setting up and putting

Braulio Matias Ferreira

’s (8-3) lights out with a picture-perfect, powerful right that legendary Joe Luis would have been proud of.

Romero prepared for the fight sparring and training in Montreal with International Boxing Federation (IBF) Super Middleweight World Champion

Osleys “El Tornado” Iglesias

(16-0, 15 KOs) and then-World Boxing Council (WBC) Super Middleweight World title-holder

Christian “Solide” Mbilli

(29-1-1, 24 KOs).

“

Marc Ramsey

(Eye of the Tiger Director of Boxing) said it’s an elite punch like

Artur Bederbiev

’s,” Romero noted. “I was very happy to hear him say that. My opponent said I was inexperienced. I attacked but stayed poised and hit him with that knockout punch. I’ve hit people like that in the past and it’s funny, sometimes I don’t feel it….until the lights go out!

“I was ready to get right back in the ring in another monster card. David Benavidez is The Monster. I’m going to put on an exciting performance for his Latino fans who will hopefully become my fans.”

No sooner had Romero returned home than he learned about his Dec. 5 fight against

Cruse “Hitman” Stewart

(10-4, 7 KOs) in an 8round scheduled match. Marco has had 3 consecutive opening-round knockouts, the last two since he signed with PBC.

“It was exciting to be sitting at the head table next to past, present and future world champions,” Romero said. ”He (David Benavidez) is really nice and his father is too. It was amazing to see how serious he is and that’s what I need to get to the next level. I’m going to elevate my intensity for this fight.”

Romero, who doesn’t turn 21 until Nov. 21, has cracked the WBA world ratings at No. 10.  He is ranked as a super middleweight but the plan calls for him to fight at middleweight in 2027.

“Marco is still a young man (20) gaining more man-strength every day,” Romero’s legendary manager/head trainer

John Brown

added. “He is very busy with his 6 days a week boxing training, strength and conditioning program and we recently added rock climbing (indoors) to help strengthen his hands, wrists, forearm and legs. He knows as we move along that the competition gets tougher, so we again are going out of town (to Orlando, FL) to spar with the toughest guys we can find in preparation for this fight and fights in 2027.”

Romero is undefeated in 16 pro fights with 14 stoppages, winning all 36 total rounds fought on the judges’ scorecards. A 23-time U.S. national Champion, Romero had a remarkable 130-5 amateur record. He hasn’t lost in the ring, as an amateur or professional, in more than 7 years since June 28, 2019.

Marco Romero isn’t in Kansas anymore.

No. 1 Super Flyweight Contender John ‘Scrappy’ Ramirez To be in attendance for Akui vs. Jimenez ‘Scrappy’ to fight the winner

Credit: Bob Trieger Full Court Press

Press Release:  By November 1, 2026 By Bob Trieger Full Court Press - LOS ANGELES (October 29, 2026)

– World Boxing Association (WBA) No. 1 ranked, mandatory super flyweight challenger

John “Scrappy” Ramirez

(17-1, 9 KOs) remains on standby for his much anticipated world title fight after the WBA recently granted a special permit to its World Super Flyweight Champion,

David “Medallita” Jimenez

(18-1, 12 KOs), to make a voluntary defense instead of his mandatory it had previously ordered for him to defend his title against Ramirez.

Jimenez will now fight WBA No. 2-rated

Seigo Yuri Akui

(22-3-2, 12 KOs), on November 29

th

in Tokyo. The winner of this bout must face Ramirez in a mandatory title defense within 120 days of the aforementioned Jimenez-Akui fight. In the event of a draw, Jimenez will be required to finally fulfill his mandatory obligation and fight “Scrappy” within the same timeframe.

The WBA had previously ordered on September 21, 2026, that Jimenez face Ramirez. The negotiating period started September 18 and was supposed to close on October 18, 2026. If the parties had failed  to reach an agreement, or if either party declined to continue to negotiate, the WBA Championships Committee may have called for a purse bid in accordance with WBA rules.

The request to void Jimenez’ mandatory was submitted on Sept. 22 by Teiken Promotions.

“I still trust the process, which I’ve been saying all along, because nothing is promised in boxing,” Ramirez commented. “They (WBA) allowed him Jimenez) to defend his title against Akui in Japan, and I get the winner. It’s not what I wanted but that’s what happened. Let the pieces fall where they may. Greatness takes patience.”

The 30-year-old Ramirez, fighting out of South-Central Los Angeles, has fought four times since his loss to Jimenez, including two in 2026. “Scrappy” was installed by the WBA as its No. 1, mandatory challenger,  positioning him in that slot back in January for the second time during his professional career.

Jimenez defeated Ramirez on April 24, 2024, by way of a 12-round unanimous decision in Brooklyn to capture the WBA Interim Super Flyweight title. When

Jessie “Bam” Rodriguez

relinquished his WBA Super Flyweight World title to move up one weight class, Jimenez was elevated from WBA Interim Champion to WBA Super Flyweight World Champion on June 13, 2026.

“Everything I’ve been going through has made me a better man and fighter,” Ramirez said. “Even if it’s been stressful and got me down sometimes, that is all part of chasing my dream (to be world champion). I don’t really care who wins that fight. I’m focused on winning the world title and I’ll be next. Me redeeming myself in the rematch (with Jimenez) would make the story sweeter, but I’ve been boxing 10 years and this is the second time I’ve been in this position. Not many fighters get one world title shot, never mind two, and that will be my time to finish.”

“Scrappy” is allowed to participate in a bout without a title at risk during the interim period, which would be risky considering anything but victory would eliminate him challenging the Nov. 29 winner for the crown.

“I may take a stay busy fight but this just happened,” Ramirez explained,” and my team is discussing our options. I’m open to fighting in Japan as long as I get my title shot. One of my goals has been to fight in Japan to grow my market. Japan is where a lot of the top fighters are from in my weight class and I’d take a big fight there.”

In addition to former WBC World Flyweight Champion Aku, other world-class super flyweights from Japan also include WBO Super Flyweight World Champion

Kenshiro Teraji

(26-2, 16 KOs), former world amateur champion

Tomoya Tsuboi

(3-1, 2 KOs),

Kenta Nakagawa

(27-5-1, 14 KOs), and

Ryusei Kawaura

(14-2, 9 KOs).

The beat goes on for “Scrappy” Ramirez, arguably the most patient boxer in the world.

“Scrappy” is managed by 3 Point Management (3 PM), which has a growing stable of gifted boxers former including WBA & WBO Cruiserweight and WBO Super Middleweight World Champion

Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez

(48-2, 30 KOs), WBA No. 5-rated world super middleweight

Darius “DFG” Fulghum

(15-1-1, 13 KOs), former WBC Light Heavyweight World Champion

Oleksandr “The Nail” Gvozdyk

(21-3, 17 KOs), former WBA Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight Champion, Canadian

Kareem “Supreme” Hackett

(13-1, 7 KOs), Armenian featherweight

Azat “Crazy A” Hovhannisyan

(23-6, 17 KOs), and German junior welterweight

Simon “Saucy” Vollmer

(7-0, 3 KOs).

Press Release:  By Bob Trieger Full Court Press - (October 27, 2026)

USA Boxing’s Elite High Performance Team secured four gold medals at the 2026 PanAmerican Championships, after Alyssa Mendoza, Jajaira Gonzalez, Lorenzo Patricio and Gilbert Kabamba all earned victories on Saturday, October 24 inside the Miguel Hidalgo Gymnasium.

Mendoza (57 kilograms) kicked things off for the Stars and Stripes, as the Idaho native was the first American to enter the ring on Saturday. She went on to defeat Brazil’s 2024 Paris Olympian Jucie Cerqueira by unanimous decision after winning all three rounds. Mendoza had an impressive 3-0 gold medal campaign, winning every bout by unanimous decision. Her 2026 PanAmerican Championships gold medal marks her second medal of the year.

After Mendoza, Team USA saw Gonzalez (60 kilograms) win her gold medal in the second session, also by unanimous decision over Colombia’s Camila Camilo. The 2024 Paris Olympian earned three wins on her path to gold, including 3-2 wins over Canada and 5-0 wins over Brazil and Colombia. Gonzalez gold medal marks the first of the year.
