Undefeated Heavyweight Fernando Cuza scored a dominant second round stoppage of veteran Keith Barr on Tuesday night at the Texas Troubadour Theatre in Nashville, TN. Cuza dropped Barr with a straight right hand in round one. The right hand became the focal point for Cuza as he landed it frequently including to the body. Though Barr showed his mettle by getting up from the knockdown, the tempo of the combat was one way. A hard thudding right to the body had Barr’s legs buckle,but he managed to survive the round. 

The second round saw Cuza drop Barr for the second time with a combination highlighted by a right hand. As he had done in the first round, Barr got up, but was showing the effects of the punishment in the form of what might have been a broken nose as blood was streaming from it. Cuza scored a third knockdown courtesy of a left hook to the body. Although he was clearly hurt at this stage in the fight, Barr once again arose from the canvas. It was one straight right hand that staggered Barr’s legs that forced a stoppage of the bout. Official time of the stoppage was 2:24 of round two. Fernando Cuza advances to 6-0, with 3 Knockouts. Keith Barr falls to 21-17-1, with 8 Knockouts.

Two Jr. Welterweight bouts took place on the undercard:

Unbeaten Ryan Zempoaltecatl scored a workmanlike four round unanimous decision over veteran Ryan Schwartzberg. Zempoaltecatl generally controlled the action and landed the cleaner punches of the two fighters. No official scores were given for this fight. Ryan Zempoaltecatl advances to 2-0, with 1 Knockout. Ryan Schwartzberg falls to 5-17-3, with 3 Knockouts.

Koby Williams moved to 3-0 in his career with a first round stoppage of a debuting Blake Witcher. Williams immediately put Witcher on the defensive with right hands and left hooks to the head and body, which kept Witcher on defense and unable to throw anything in return until the fight was stopped.Official time of the stoppage was 1:26 of round one. Koby Williams advances to 3-0, with 2 Knockouts. Blake Witcher falls to 0-1, with 0 Knockouts.

*A scheduled four round Jr. Welterweight bout between Jashawn Hunter and Gianni Liguori was cancelled. As of this writing, no reason has been given for the cancellation.*

While the twenty-fourth edition of promoter Jimmy Adams’ CountryBox series suffered a setback with a cancellation of one scheduled bout on the card, it still provided a look at some up and coming talent inside the ring as well as featured three live music acts throughout the evening including Leah Turner, Aaron Partridge, and Clayton Q. 

With CountryBox 25 scheduled to take place on November 19th and featuring the return of former WBC Heavyweight world champion Oliver McCall, who will return to the ring at age fifty-nine, it is a series that continues to offer a little for everyone.

Update: Schedule Resumption Notice

We would like to let our readers know that we will be attempting to ease back into what is akin to our regular schedule this week. It has been an extremely trying time since late September due to the recent hurricanes and the necessity of needing to evacuate as well as the stress and toll it entails, which unfortunately led to a pause in our normal schedule, which was not intended. Three-Part Docuseries: Countdown To Paul-Tyson Debuts On Netflix November 7th

Netflix has announced a three-part docuseries “Countdown To Paul-Tyson* providing an inside look at social media influencer turned boxer Jake Paul and former two-time World Heavyweight champion and Hall of Famer Mike Tyson as they prepare for their fight at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, TX. The fight, which will air live on Netflix on Friday, November 15th will be available worldwide to Netflix subscribers as part of a Netflix subscription. 

" Countdown To Paul-Tyson “ will air in three episodes with episodes 1 and 2 debuting on Netflix on Thursday, November 7th with episode 3 to follow on Tuesday, November 12.
