Action Jackson England Reacts To WBC Asia Title Victory

Updated Coronavirus Boxing-Related Cancellations/Postponements 3/27/2020

In addition to the announcement earlier this week by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that the scheduled 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan has been postponed until 2021 due to the ongoing Coronavirus epidemic, the sport of Boxing has continued to see postponements and cancellations made due to the virus.    Among the announcements made this week were an announcement by the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) group of promoters that it has cancelled all its scheduled events through the month of May. The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has also announced that it has suspended sanctioning bouts through the month of June. This likely was a contributing reason in the scheduled May 9th Undisputed Women’s Middleweight world championship fight between champion Claressa Shields and Marie Dicaire, which was scheduled to take place in Flint, MI as the main event of a Showtime televised Boxing card here in the United States. Updated Coronavirus Boxing-Related Cancellations/Postponements 3/20/2020

The ongoing Coronavirus epidemic has continued to result in several cancellations and postponements in the sport of Boxing around the world. It was announced earlier this week that all combat sports events along with non-essential businesses have been shut down in the state of Nevada for thirty days. This has followed similar decisions made by the British Boxing Board of Control, who ruled in accordance with the British government to cancel all combat sports events for the remainder of March and April. This has resulted in several notable promoters including Matchroom Boxing, MTK Global, and Queensberry Promotions all cancelling their scheduled events. SES Boxing in Germany has also announced the cancellation of the scheduled March 28th card headlined by a Light-Heavyweight bout between Zac Dunn and Dominic Boesel has also been cancelled. As the world continues to deal with the ongoing Coronavirus epidemic, the sport of Boxing has continued to see numerous cancellations and postponements. These cancellations include all combat sports events in the state of California until further notice. All Boxing cards in Japan are cancelled through April 30th. Kings Boxing Promotions cancelled their scheduled card on March 14th in Bethlehem, PA with a make up date to be announced. The scheduled April 14th World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) season two Cruiserweight final between Mairis Briedis and Yuniel Dorticos, which was due to take place in Riga, Latvia has also been cancelled. This followed announcements of cancellations by Team Sauerland and Universum Boxpromotion that they have cancelled their scheduled April 4th event in Hamburg, Germany as well as cancellations by Raging Babe Promotions scheduled card on March 27th in Philadelphia, PA, Shearns Boxing Promotions scheduled March 20th event in Framingham, MA all being ca...
